FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Calling all moms of "children" starting bootcamp 7/8/15

I am so very thankful to have found the NAVYForMoms website and Facebook page. Without it, I would probably be curled up in a ball with three or four empty tissue boxes strewn around me! I am so very proud of my son...this is all just so unfamiliar!

I would really like to get to know other moms with sons or daughters who started boot camp on 7/8/15...as a single mom, I could certainly use the support, reassurance, and guidance!

Kim,

Did you get Adam's address from his recruiter? I was afraid to use one from the recruiting station, as several sites have said that they get incorrect information much of the time.  I am anxiously waiting the form letter!!  I read a neat tip to store all of his letters and memorabilia in the "kid in the box" that should arrive soon.  Are you going to PIR? I would like to book my rooms, but am afraid that something might happen to set off the date and I'd be stuck with the bill.

She got the address and PIR date from the recruiter. Remember that the RTC asks that loved ones wait on The Form Letter before sending mail.

Hi, my son also started BC on 7/8/15.  It was the hardest thing I have ever gone through saying goodbye.  It was a terrible ride home with all of us crying.  Then to make matters worse being that he had never flown before and was heading off on this new journey he sent me a text to tell me he had passed out at the airport in Chicago.  Then I didn't hear from him for a couple of hours.  Another text telling me he was fine.  By that time I was ready to jump in my car and drive to Chicago from Buffalo to take care of my baby.  Got my phone call about an hour later and I was able to toss in two questions to him as he was reading his script and then that was it.  I felt awful actually not being able to help since we are moms and that's what we do is take care of them when they need us.  I had to realize that he is a big boy now and I have to let go.  So emotionally draining.

Liz's Mom,

How are you holding up today?  When my boys were babies I LOVED folding their little clothes, but as they grew the laundry became a huge chore.  After Colton left and I did his laundry, I actually ENJOYED it again!!!! Being a mom is such a weird experience. :)

HUGS to you!!! What a helpless feeling to know he had passed out and be so far away.  Being a mom is tough!!!  Why didn't they tell us THAT during birthing classes???? I really try to let my boys be the men that they are...at least to their faces.  That is why this site and the Navy For Moms FB page is so helpful.  I can actually worry openly!!!! :)

My son arrived by bus. I got to communicate with him on & off throughout the 4 hour bus ride

The no communication thing is the hardest adjustment in the day and age when we usually have so much access!! :(

Hi There Colton's Mom. My name is Rebecca.  My son Chayce arrived on July 8th as well. It was his 19th birthday. I'm so pleased to connect with you as I'm feeling the same level of anxiety LOL. That scripted phone call was strange right? I was happy & disturbed at the same time.

Chayce is in Advanced Electronics / Computers. How about your son.
