For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Calling all moms of "children" starting bootcamp 7/8/15
I am so very thankful to have found the NAVYForMoms website and Facebook page. Without it, I would probably be curled up in a ball with three or four empty tissue boxes strewn around me! I am so very proud of my son...this is all just so unfamiliar!
I would really like to get to know other moms with sons or daughters who started boot camp on 7/8/15...as a single mom, I could certainly use the support, reassurance, and guidance!

Ms, Diva, Remember, wait on the form letter before sending letters.
Keep checking PIR 09/04/2015 TG 43 and join when it is up later tonight or tomorrow.

I spoke to one of the head recruiters. I have not got the form yet.Someone just told me to wait for the form so I will wait.

Reasons to wait on The Form Letter:
1. The PAO at the RTC asks that loved ones wait on the form letter before mailing letters. See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/fam_guide.asp.
2. The recruiter does not always give the right address and letters that do not have the correct address may be returned or may be delayed several weeks in getting to your recruit since it will not be a high priority for those in the mail room to look up the correct information.
3. Even if you do have the correct information, your recruit will not receive letters that are mailed before receiving the form letter much quicker, if at all, than letters mailed after receiving the form letter because recruits do not receive mail until they are in their permanent ship and a Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained. The first Mail Call is on day 1-3 or 1-4 DOT.

Note: If it has been at least 2 calendar weeks since your recruit arrived at the RTC and you do not have a form letter, then you can call the recruiter and get the address and mail letters to your recruit, but be sure to double-check the address against those at http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp or Ship/Division--How it Works.

My heart skipped a beat for a minute MsDiva. I wouldn't trust what the recruiters tell you. Better to wait for the letter for the most accurate information.

Some recruits who arrived on the 8th and 9th will have PIR on 09/04/2015, but it is also possible that some will have PIR on 09/11/2015 due to storms that caused delays and also the large number of recruits who ship this time of year. DON'T make reservations until you have The Form Letter. If you do get the info from the recruiter, it is probably correct, but recruits have been moved to different divisions and/or ships during P-Days and also some recruiters give a generic address for the RTC. If the address is not correct, it can delay mail to your recruit--sometimes for several weeks.

Adams Mom, How do you know that PIR is 09/04/2015? "The box" does not contain The Form Letter.
