Hi! My name is Amanda and I am the wife of a new Navy recruit. He flew to Chicago yesterday and I received my anticipated "I am safely here" call at 12:38a 7/24/15. I am very excited for him, and nervous for him, at the same time.
The discussions I have read have been very helpful. Thank you to all of the contributors. I am wondering if there might be anyone else in this recruit class or past classes that was a spouse. We have been married multiple years and this is a significant change for our family. We have kids and I am just curious about what I should anticipate, if anybody has any words of wisdom, or tips for me regarding the Homefront.

Thank you,
Amanda

And a follow up question... Today is Saturday, does it count as a p-day?
Thanks!

No, weekends are P-HOLD. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

Hi Amanda,

I  can only imagine the big change in your household at this time. I'm not a spouse but a mom of a new recruit, and I'm learning myself. Let me suggest that you do a search for a "spouse" group, hoping one exists. This way you will get to chat with people who have gone through what you will, or connect with spouses who are going through what you are at this time. Eventually you will get this ship and division number and make further connections with spouses of graduates on the same day as your husband.

Have Faith! You and those babies, be well.

Thank you, MrsG:)I did find a group on here for spouses, finances, and boyfriends. I posted there, as well when I found it. I'm going to like this website!!
Most likely still in Pdays. It is encouraging and confusing at the same time to see people who went to boot camp within a couple of days of each other. I am selfishly hoping that my husband was on the latter end of recruits coming in and not the beginning with the possibility of waiting for more recruits to show up. I have watched the "what happens in Boot Camp" video no less than six times since this past weekend. :) I truly appreciate all of the information in the video, and I just wish I could figure out where in the process my SR is currently. Since he arrived late on A weeknight with one full week day ahead of him and then the weekend I think he might be on P2 for P3? I am not looking for a box until later this week. And as much as I adore them, I may have to tackle my kids if they try to pick that box up before I do. :-)
