My 24 y/o son swore in July 7th and shipped to GL that evening. That was truly an amazing experience. Very rushed and very short time to spend with him, but all in all it opened my eyes to a whole new world.
Watching him swear in and seeing him stand at attention, remaining focused, enthusiastic and strong was probably the one of my most proud moments of my son!! wow Goosebumps.
My son was staying with his father when he enlisted, they are in So. Cal and I am in N. Cal. So a lot of the correspondence that he will be allowed in the future will be split between his father, myself and his amazing GF. I don't think I will be the one receiving any news first hand and I am coming to terms with that. I just want him to succeed and be great!!
I don't know anything about the Navy. I am learning a lot through these web sites. I think today is P3 for him. lol
I guess what I am looking for is fellow moms who can give any advise through this process and share experiences with them.

Hi, I am also new to Navy and know nothing about it. My son swore on July 8th and left that evening to GL. I have received The Form Navy letter and his actual letter. He was changed to a different ship, so the Form Letter has a different address from his last actual letter. Does anybody know why this happened? His PIR is 9/04.
They are doing some renovations so some divisions have changed ships.
Join PIR 09/04/2015 TG 43 - 11 Divisions (289-298 and 943) to connect with others with loved ones training with your recruit. Divisions 295 and 296 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 (BST) together, so look for others with loved ones in either division. There is a discussion within PIR 09/04/2015 TG 43 - 11 Divisions (289-298 and 943) for the two divisions.
They probably changed division and ships because of people leaving and not having enough SR in each division. What division is your SR in?
NO, they don't do that. Once a division is formed, it is formed. Two divisions train together, so there is not an issue with the numbers. The biggest reason for changing ships is due to renovations at the RTC. Her recruit is in either Division 295 or 296 since those are the divisions that moved to Ship 6 in the 09/04/2015 TG.
His Division was always 296. Only Ship changed from Ship 14 to Ship 6.
However, I am not sure if the address is a typo error or they changed that too.
Before it was: 3510 Sailor Drive
Now it says: 3410 Sailor Drive
Anybody would know this?
The address for Ship 6 is
3510 Illinois Street, Great Lakes, IL 60088-3119
Thanks. No wonder he's not receiving our letters. :(
If the Ship and Division numbers are right then he will get the mail.
Most with a recruit who arrived on the 8th have received The Form Letter, so go ahead and call the recruiter and get the address and mail letters to your recruit, but be sure to double-check the address against those at http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp or Ship/Division--How it Works.
