Just got my "I'm here" phone call, it was a bittersweet moment, knowing that I won't hear his voice for the next 3 wks.

Navajosunshine39,thanks for the encouraging words. I can't wait to PIR. I am so proud of him.
I got my call at 1119 on Tuesday night.... Now waiting for a box without a kid, a form letter, and a letter or call from him! This is emotional and nerve wracking for this momma.
By all means, pls do. Best of luck to your son.

I got kristin box  of cloths in the mail today  ... thought the address that we could send the mail to would be in there .. but no .....

No, The Form Letter arrives in the mail an average of 10 days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

I left info for you on your My Page.

Thanks for the info

Hello,

My son left for boot camp last Thursday.I know what you are feeling.what helps me is this site.I go on every site and watch the u tube videos. It helps knowing what they are going through. I count Friday's.9 counting this one

You are down to 8 Fridays. You count the first Friday after arrival in the count to get th most likely PIR date.

Thanks Lisa Lou, that's a great idea to watch videos online :) I simply can't wait to at least get correspondence. Best of luck to your son.
I missed the call. But this is my 3 child in the Navy. It's different this time because it's my baby girl though. It so exciting to see other parents of young ladies on here. I went out and bought 18 Hallmark cards and starte writing so that as soon as her letter gets here I can pop it in the mail. Be sure to send them stamps if they didn't take any or not enough...
Best wishes to your daughter. My son took lots of stamps, I even told him to share with shipmates that don't have any. I already started writing letters. Just waiting for form letter to get the address. :)

We did the same thing. Bought cards and started jotting quick notes so we would have them ready as soon as we received our sons address.
