While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

PIR Gifts
Hi everyone,
I searched the site and didn't find anything recent so I thought I'd pick everyone's brains.
I'm looking for ideas for a gift to bring my son for at the PIR ceremony? I don't know if gifts are a thing, but it seems weird not to take one.
Ideas or what did you do for your new Sailor if you brought a gift to graduation?

I was an ET, and could not wear jewelry. I did sometimes wear my wedding ring on a chain around my neck, but I kept it tucked in, made sure both chain and ring in my pocket if I was on live gear in an unplanned moment . I wore my wedding ring on weekends. Yes, rings are a hazard in some situations, but usually jewelry of any kind is prohibited at that time. This is pretty insulting overall to say sailors aren't smart enough to know when not to wear their ring. My father was on flight decks, his ring stayed home with mom.
My husband had a shipmate who was killed when he carelessly wore shower shoes in the middle of the night when checking out a problem, so should we say no shower shoes? Carelessness can happen anytime, don't blame the item.
Actually though, a ring is very likely to be stolen when it isn't being worn. So much petty theft. Nothing is safe.

We had a blanket made with about 50 photos from her life. Her sister made a matching pillow. 3 other siblings went together on a casio G shock watch. We also got her a challenge coin. She has not had her PIR yet but am confident she will love all her gifts.

Hi, I also had a tough time deciding on a gift. I have seen plaques on eBay theta have the sailors creed on them and they can be personalized. They are $30. I really like it. Can you send me info on how you made the blanket? I love that idea!

I have a bunch of his old shirts to make a blanket and found instructions on pinterest. :) but I'm sure they can be found online. I'm going to leave it home tho so he doesn't have to worry about not being able to keep it on his bed in A school.

The plaque would be better suited as a "stay at home" gift. Knick-knacks do not fare well in the barracks or on a ship. Useful stuff seems "not special", but it really is appreciated.
Something like a mini-mag light with a red lens attachment is super useful for those headed to ships. Here is an example:

I totally agree and I've been thinking on the same thing! I was thinking on getting my son a St. Christopher necklace so that he will always have it with him. He left for bc on August 5th. I'm not sure what else would be appropriate? Any ideas would be great!! :)

Has anyone heard of Invicta watches? I was thinking on getting my son one of those as opposed to the GShock.

There is a reason that Sailors prefer GShock--they last under the conditions that Sailors find themselves in. Look at the reviews before buying. Invicta watches have mixed reviews.

I ordered and already received a Casio Gshock watch for my grandson. His mom suggested a dark camo color and it does look pretty cool. I wanted to get something practical that he could use and he didn't have a watch. It has alarms, countdown timers, stopwatch, world time mode and water proof to 200 m. All the bells an whistles he needs. I did read all the review and they were pretty impressive.
