My son is leaving for MEPS tomorrow (July 20th), then flies out to Great Lakes on Tuesday.  Anyone else's son/daughter leaving for Boot Camp this week?

I thought I would be emotional and crying (he's my youngest), but I'm not.  I am so full of pride and so excited for him to start the next chapter in his life.

I'm sure in the upcoming weeks there will be many tear shed.

If all goes well, his PIR will be on September 18th, which is the day after his 23rd birthday.

My son leaves tomorrow also. I was doing great until we started packing up and storing his stuff. He is my last one at home.
My son went to MEPS today and ships tomorrow. He's my first one to leave home. I'm so proud of him,but it's been hitting me that I just can't talk with him in the evenings like we normally do. That's had me in tears a few times today. Is anyone else feeling this way?
Yes I felt that way and still do! my son's PIR was Aug 21 and it was extremely hard not to be able to talk to him
Hi! My daughter left for bootcamp on July 21, 2015, and is scheduled for PIR on September 18th also. We are almost there. Only two weeks left. How are you doing? I also did not cry. My daughter left two days before her 25 birthday. I was so excited for her to find some purpose to her life and I felt this was a good start. I have had several sleepless nights thinking about worst case scenarios but for the most part it has been positive thoughts. How about you? My Navy daughter is also my youngest.
