Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Where do we go from here
Hello i'm new here and was looking for information about my son not passing his swim test. He was do to graduate today 01-10-2014, unfortunately that did not happen. I have not heard from him and would like to speak to him. I don't know what's going on any more. LOST AND CONFUSED, can someone help me with this.

hello, I've been here a while my son did not pass his test as well. they probably have moved him to another ship, they will work with him one on one. Keep praying you will hear from him soon.

Hello mustang! I know that it is really confusing at this point, you do not know what to expect! What I can tell you is that you will most likely not hear from your SR anymore until there is a change in his status. I recently went through this waiting time period and it really sucks! I was always told that no news is good news. In most cases, or unless he passes his swim test quickly, it takes about 3 weeks before you hear from him. So hang in there, he is in good hands. Keep sending him lots of letters and supporting him during this time. He will really need them to keep his spirits up.

We got that dreaded "scripted" phone call from our son the night before he was suppose to go through BS! He said that he didn't pass the prone float portion of the swim test, moved out of his division to FIT/RCU, and that he would not be graduating on 10-04-13! The next 48 hour's were awful for us, couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, kept CLOSE watch for a call from that 847 area code, praying for the best! Thank God, we got the call from our son after he passed the prone float test the very first time he took it! He completed BS with another division a few day's later and returned to his own division to graduate as scheduled on 10-04-13! I later learned that the prone float test is given 3 times a day, Monday through Friday!

I am grateful to have you guys to help me through this sad time. I've been reading so many different things at this point. I did not know that my son won't graduate at all and once he pass the swim test that he will be sent straight to A school. Is this true?
newnavymom, do i send the letters to his old div bcuz i don't know otherwise?

aznavymom, today felt so terrible for me, and i watched the graduation live. yes, i cried. I wish i knew what was going on with him.

mustang, I sent letters until I knew my SR's new address, and he has said that he received each of the letters that I sent. Once I reached someone at the public affairs office I was given the address to send his mail to him in FIT. When I received a letter from him in FIT, it had his address on it, but he still received the letter that I just sent to FIT as I was told by public affairs office, with no DIV listed on it. They will get their mail to them, just make sure that you have their name and I always add the middle initial just in case someone has the same name as my son.

Hello Moms, let me just start by saying to ALL of you on this site that have reached out to me. My son has passed his swim test and have gone through BS last night, now i'm waiting on that call from him saying "mom i'm a Sailor." When i saw that 847 area code i had the biggest smile on my face, and did i heard his voice. All i begin to do is tell him how happy i was to hear from him not letting him tell me why he was calling. Then i said "is this a good call or a bad call." He replied and said "a good call and i passed my test." Boi i continued to tell him how proud i was of him and how much i miss and love him. Most importantly his spirit was up and he said he's ready to go to A school. I'm ok with this because he bounces back like a rubber band and i've instilled in him that obstacles may come but it's how you recover from them. I can't thank you moms enough for calming some of my heart ache......lol because i had some tearful nights and days.
Navy moms Rock!
I will continue to pray for ALL the SR's that find themselves in the FIT program, and the new Sailors to come.

This is great news to hear!!
My boyfriend is in the same position. He hasn't passed his swim portion and he is expected to graduate on 1/22.....I'm so nervous & will still be flying out just in case he manages to pass before his graduation date.
It's a relief to hear that your son passed and was fine. I'm hoping my SR does the same!!

He will stay in FIT and do a swim test several times a week. He will call when his status changes. He could be in FIT for several weeks. I know it is hard to stay positive but keep writing and encourage him. He can do this and if for some reason he can not,, that should be a separation code where he can come home and take swim lessons and work on the part he struggled with,,, wait 6 months and apply for a waiver and go back and complete his dream! I hope this don't sound mean,,, just wanted to give you the real truth.

I just got the I didn't pass my PFA and I will not be graduating, so do not come phone call a couple hours ago. By the end of the short call is was don't come if I don't call you back. She was scheduled to graduate on 9/11. I wish I knew what questions to ask her when she called. She was so upset, so I just calmed her down letting her know it's ok and she will pass. So, I've been reading on what happens when you get that phone call. It seems she will be moved from her ship to fit and she will get to try again on Monday (maybe it's a holiday) and Wednesday. If she does pass then she will do BS21 and MAY get to graduate after all on 9/11. Am I understanding correctly?
