For moms that have attended the graduation ceremony, do you have a recommendation on what time to arrive?  I know the gates open at 6:30am, but is there a window?  My gut told me to arrive at 6:30, but I'm guessing everyone else's gut is saying the same thing.  Thanks in advance.

We left the Navy Lodge at 6:15 and there was already a very long line. The best way to make sure you get in and get a good spot is to drive past the entrance, up the hill to the light and make a U-turn. You will then be able to make a left turn at the light to the entrance, bypassing the long line of cars.

Thank you!

Listen to your gut!  We used our hotel shuttle ( Springhill Suites/ $3 per person one way) and had no problems. We arrived around 7:15 am. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes as you will be doing quite a bit of walking. We didn't have to stand in too long of lines to check in. The drill hall fills up quickly!

Best experience of our lives watching our first born son march in. Enjoy your sailors special day!

Bravo Zulu and best of luck!

Thank you!

Did the shuttle come back and get you?

There were quite a few shuttles outside the gate waiting for people to use.  I think we will try to park at the train station next Fall when our other son graduates Boot Camp.

We parked at the train station that is literally steps from the entrance.  It cost $1.50.  No lines, no problems. Plus if your sailor gets to leave right away (meaning he/she will be flying out the next day to A School) when liberty is called it's a short walk back to the car and away you go:)

We got there by 6:30 to ensure we got to sit where we wanted for PIR.  We chose the main floor, back row, to the right our sailor's division.  This way we were able to see her better (being head on with the division blocks your view of you sailor), we were able to stand at anytime during PIR and we had the wall to lean back on.

great tips, thanks.  Mine is heading to Pensacola!
