Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi! I am a senior in college and I am planning on going into the Navy after I graduate. I am looking forward to the challenge and knowing that I will be making a difference, but only one job in the Navy catches my eye and that is hospital corpsman. I've talked to two recruiters about what I would like to do when I go in and I know I'll have high enough scores to go corpsman, but both recruiters have cautioned me that I will most likely not get that job because so many people want to be a corpsman. One recruiter even made it seem like it was less likely because I was a girl stating that "every girl wants to be a nurse. " is this true? Is it really that hard for a person especially a girl to get the corpsman position?

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus recently announced a Navy mandate to boost the number of female enlisted recruits from the current 18% to 25% starting in fiscal year 2016 (That was Oct 1st). So the Navy is going to bend over backwards to attract more women.

That said, hospital corpsman is one of those ratings that is in big demand by both sexes, making it tougher to get in. Compounding the problem is that you have locked your sights on a single rating. The truth is that the recruiters don't really care what you want; their job is to fit potential recruits into the jobs that needs filling. If you are not willing to even consider other jobs, a recruiter may be less likely to work with you.
