Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Woman corpsman???
Hi! Im a senior in college and I am really wanting to go into the navy as a corpsman after I graduate with my bachelors in May 2016, but Ive been told that as a woman corpsman I would most likely wind up working in a hospital as a nurses aid....is that true? As a woman corpsman how would I be treated?

Untrue. Woman HMs will be assigned to the same duty stations as men with the exception of front line combat medics with the Marines or SEALs.

As a Navy nurse that works with Corpsman all day long, that is true to an extent but you can also be stationed on a ship. You are not treated differently than the boys. The only thing you may not be able to do (I am not entirely certain of the rules) is go with the Marines.

You can go with the Marines (there are 14,000 female Marines after all) just not as a front line combat medic.

Are you entering the Navy as an officer? If so, you probably would not be a corpsman, as that is an enlisted job. Most corpsman jobs are in the hospital or clinic settings, they can range from the Emergency Tech type role, to a nrses assistant on the floors. If you are graduating with your bachelors in May, you will most likely go into an officer role.

One of the moms I met here years ago has a daughter who is a Corpsman. She was an instructor at Great Lakes when my son went through Corpsman training. She did that for several years, when the training moved to San Antonio, she was transferred to a Marine unit and went to Iraq, where she earned her FMF qualification. She is now back at Great Lakes, not sure what's she's teaching but she isn't a nurse's aide, that's for sure! There are plenty of specialty jobs in the Corpsman area, all types for all types of people.
