As we prepare for the upcoming deployment let's use this as a place to discuss any questions we may have.

**PLEASE REMEMBER OPSEC AND DON'T POST SPECIFIC DATES REGARDING SHIP MOVEMENT**

Dates may only be discussed AFTER they have happened.

Here's the shipping info.  Remember you will need the specific box # from your Sailor.  ****THIS IS A NEW ADDRESS****

There have been questions from some about seeing the ship off - where's the best location, can they get on the pier?  Anyone know?

Make sure your sailor gets a "Ship to Shore" AT&T calling card.  They can be purchased on the ship and can be reloaded.  You will need the pin # from the card.  Call 1.800.569.2018 to reload - minimum $25.  ***UPDATE 12/29/15*** AT&T will be issuing new cards as of 2/1/16.  You can continue to use any minutes you have on your old card after that date, but you will NOT be able to reload that card after 2/1/16.  Also, until 1/11/16 if you reload your card they are giving 25% more minutes for FREE!

Here's the link to the USPS "Click & Ship".  You can get free boxes/tape etc. from them too.

Just received a text from my son!  Won't say where he is, but what makes me nervous is the fact that it didn't come in as an iMessage.  This means he did NOT turn cellular data off!!  Oh lord.  I texted him back and told him to do that.  NOW.  It was worth it just to finally hear from him,  but since I told him that, I haven't heard from him.  :(   I sure do miss that boy.  I'll keep praying for a safe journey for all of our sailors.  <3  Hopefully they all get wifi soon and we all get texts or even facetimes.  :D  Happy Sunday to you all.

Hi. I guess depe dinv on your cellular.carrier, you can let them know he is out of country. Our company has a add on that for 10.00, he can get unlimited talk/text. My be worth it while he is on land.

Has ANYONE heard anything about mail/boxes, etc.?  My son said he got a box (over a week ago) that was mailed 11/20 from my school (actually only received 2 of the 3 mailed at the same time), and NOTHING from us or his wife, mailed 11/29... He said no one has received anything since then.  ??? Might they be holding it and waiting until Christmas?  Has anyone heard from their sailor that they received mail within the last week or two?

Merry Christmas to all of the moms who, like me, have an empty chair at the dinner table. My God continue to watch over our sailors until they are safe in our hugs again.

Don't forget the deadline to get the extra 25% free minutes for the AT&T ship to shore card is 1/11/16!  And remember they are changing to new cards on 2/1 but any minutes you still have on the old card can still be used.  I put the 800# up above to call to reload ;-)

Hi!  Been a little bit.  Just got an email from my son.... There is a place on the ship that is selling cars.  And guess what, THEY HAVE THE EXACT CAR HE WANTS.  He has 2 or 3 days to decide, then they will be gone.  Anyone have any experience with this?  He said to look up MCIS but I can't find anything like that.  They will take his current vehicle as a trade in and sell him this newer model.  Any quick Help will be appreciated!

I never would have thought they would be doing this to them while they are on the ship.  He's a 20 yr old who has no experience buying a car, a million miles from home and he has 2 days to decide.  UGH! This kid.

I heard that they sell motorcycles, too.  I'm fuming about this.   Under what guise is it acceptable to the military to allow these salesmen to profit from deployment status?   What are they thinking??????  Most of them will get something they can't afford, and lose their hard-earned money in the long run.

Just got news from my husband that their captain said their deployment is officially getting extended, weve waited this long we can wait a little longer..
Dang it! Did he happen to allude to how long? Don't break opsec, but just wondering if we're talking weeks or months.
Just weeks! Fingers crossed no additional extensions are made after that.
