DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Heather, once a Recruit Mail Petty Officer has been trained, then he will receive mail at Mail Call every weekday (Monday-Friday) evening before Taps. See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.

My son left for boot camp December 3rd... I've written letters just waiting g for the form letter.
I feel so lost on this website... I've changed my username changed the zip code read the PIR and went on a chat room and it's all foreign. Just started getting used to Facebook
I changed the picture is there anything else I need to change.

i sent you a message on your page also i changed the zip code and the url thank you for being patient with me... between tears and a ball of emotions i sat in front of my computer and carefully read thoroughly

i am looking for where i can verify my sons address since i read somewhere that the address that is given by the recruit is not always correct, does anyone know where i can go to verify it?

thanks,

The official address will be in the Form Letter. It usually arrives about 10 days after a Recruit gets to GLakes. RTC asks that you not mail anything until you receive the letter.

Ok I will wait for his form letter. Thank you. I'm assuming the faster he gets mine the faster I will get one from him... the waiting is torture... I'm trying to get it together it's hard but I'll wait...

FYI - Mail info from the RTC Facebook page:

Do not depend on your local recruiters to have an accurate address for your recruits. Some recruits do change ships (barracks) during the first couple of weeks, thus, the initial address you may have obtain from a recruiter will be incorrect. Recruits can begin receiving and writing letters the first Sunday they are in their permanent ships (barracks). They spend anywhere from one to two weeks (depending on what division they were placed into) in a different location on base. Any mail sent to them before they are even in their ships may possibly be delayed reaching them by up to three weeks. All letters must have a complete/accurate address that includes a recruit's division number. Misaddressed letters will be delayed in reaching your recruit. To ensure you have the correct address for your recruit's ship, visit our website at: www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp

Thank you by the way cryptodad
My son left December 2nd just got his box today. Cried in front of fed ex guy. That's embarrassing. No contact letter ?

The letter comes after the box. My husband left yesterday. So I suppose I will be getting his soon as well. How close are you to GL? I am trying to figure out a turn around time on when I might get the box. He told me to be sure to open it because he put something in there for me. I wasn't planning on opening it because it would cause another break down. I can only imagine what I will do in front of the fedex guy too...don't feel embarrassed. We are all right there with you!
