Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

mail not getting to my sailor
does anyone have an issue with mail/packages getting to their sailor?? I know it will take longer but there are like 5 items my son hasn't received yet. One piece was sent the day after Thanksgiving and a couple followed with in a week or 2 after that. Also my son has been moved from the original division he was assigned to when he first arrived in Norfolk, so he went to some office of his previous division to see if he happened to have anything there and they did have 1 letter that was sent Nov 23rd that they just had sitting there. And he found out they had given another letter to a fellow sailor to give to him. I wish I knew who I could call or who he could find out from where else to check ? anyone have any advice?? thanks

Do you have a mailing address or the Naval Post Office address with a Hold for Pick Up slip? I had this problem with the hold for pick up. My post office in California did not know how to send with hold for pick up. They had me send the package and hand write my sons info on the box and after 15 days it was returned to me. Might need to contact the base for proper mailing instructions. Good Luck and are you on Facebook there are lots of great moms to help out with questions as well.

thank you, Im going to check into who I'd call on the base I just dont want to make a big fuss but I do want to make sure theres not a better way to get his mail to him. He has received things in the past but its been a while and i think he was in a different division so i dont know if thats what the problem is. thanks again

the post office wont due tracking numbers because it goes to the military but thanks for your input.

hi..when our son was in Norfolk he had to pay for his own post office box in town i believe post office was on Grant street. the post office on base did not have any boxes left and when i sent mail to his squadron he never got it. i thought it was ridiculous he had to pay to get mail it always bothered me. good luck

Thank you for the info. He has mentioned that before I think it may be best for him to check further into it, its just he doesn't have transportation so he has to depend on a buddy for a ride to get the mail. Ha did finally get the packages took like 7 weeks for one of them. Thanks
