For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Getting Married??
I am just now learning that Sailors cant get married right after basic without permission! Both me and my fiancé were unaware of this! He wants to get married right after basic, so I need help! How do I go about getting permission? (He left on Jan. 5,2016, so I do have a little time to work this out!)
Any help is great! Thanks in advance

They are specifically advised NOT to marry on PIR weekend. No one can or will give him permission for that weekend.
However, some couples do go and get married anyway. No one has reported getting in trouble here. Doesn't mean it cannot happen, and he could lose a lot. Possibly even his school. Personally, I think that is a very poor way to begin his enlistment, breaking a specific liberty rule. Why must it be immediately? There is no advantage to it, other than you're in the area. Wait a month, then visit him at A school when he has had the opportunity to put in the chit, take the class/counseling, and not run the risk of being disciplined.
Is his A school in Great Lakes? If so, it can be done. If not, it will not happen because it takes two days in Lake County. One for the license, and the ceremony the next day. If he is flying out on Saturday, he has to take Navy transport to the airport early in the morning, and cannot leave to go do anything else.

I was told by a family friend, that yes they are advised not to get married that weekend, However, they will not tell him he cat as it is on his time after graduation. Also, I was told by several people(in the military, all branches) that the wait period was waived for active duty. Until someone messaged me yesterday I was completely unaware that it might even be a problem.
