For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Officially a Navy mom - Day 1
Hello all, I just wanted to introduce myself as I am a very new Navy mom. My son signed his contract yesterday and took his oath. Its surreal and I tear up quite a bit at random lol. I am not afraid for him, I am just going to miss him terribly. He has been the man of the house since he was about 13. He has one little sister and grandparents that love him at home. He leaves for boot camp April 26th which sounds far, but I know it will be here in a blink of an eye.
I am sure I will have questions later, but right now I just needed to share and so thankful for this site. I have been a single mom for 8 years and very soon it will be just me and my little girl waiting for phone calls and updates. My boy is like a best friend, it feels like we grew up together. wahh ok Imma go cry now. Stay Blessed!

Hello. I havet he same feelings that you do. My daughter signed in October and leaves in May. I am also a single mom and have raised her myself since she was 5 (now going on 21). We do a lot of things together and see each other everyday so it has already started to sink in that she will be gone and I already feel lonely. It makes me very upset to think about it but I know its what she wants and she will do great. I don't think I have gone but maybe 2 days without ever talking or texting so this will be a HUGE change for me. I have tried to be very supportive.
I just singed up on this site earlier this week and am looking forward to responses that can hopefully make me feel a lot better since there are others like me going through the same feelings..... Hang in there!

Alohabell Day 4 for me. My boy ships June 8, 2016. Going to miss my best friend and now confidante since he graduated college. Was waiting for officer boards, but they are too sporadic so he decided to enlist and now with the job he got, happy he did.
Does anyone know if mom's can accompany on flight to Great Lakes?

I suppose you can get a flight if there is a seat... but I would NOT do that. That flight is part of the time they need to shift their mental mindset from your child to recruit. Especially if they are traveling in a group from MEPS. No, the time to say good bye is at the hotel the night before, give them time to bond with their new shipmates as they go on the journey. Saying goodbye in front of everyone at O'Hare? When they must go to the USO and wait in a group? Don't disrupt the process.

Hi Victoria. My son left for Great Lakes on 1/19. No we cannot fly with them. My son wanted us at the MEPS station the day he flew out to see him swear in again. We said our goodbyes there. He will be able to call you on his journey :)
