Hi All

I haven't been on for quite a while, but think about you all. I need help. My son Robert is getting married in May of this year. she is a lovely young lady, who is in the Coast Guard. Here is my problem or rather dilemma. Robert and Iris are getting married in Tenn. her home town,we live in Michigan. The wedding will be very small, just immediate family and a few very close friends. Here is the problwm, I want to host a bridal shower for Iris, she is stationed in California. We are going to skype her in. My sister says I should not have a shower for her as no one her knows her and most will not be invited to the wedding. All of the guest for the shower will be friends and family who have known Robert all of his life and also my Ble Star Mothers group who have been helping me thru all of his enlistment. Am I wrong in wanting to d this. anyone else out there have a similar situation

Perhaps you could skype him in too, and have a couples shower.  It is unusual, but I have seen it done more in the military.  As for gifts, go gift cards all the way.  Shipping and moving stuff around the country is a hassle for everyone.

Ask her is she wants to do this.  If not, do not press her, she may not feel comfortable being the center of attention of a lot of people she doesn't know.  It would be unkind otherwise.  Do something else nice for her later, perhaps?  Host a get to know you party when they finally get a chance to visit at home?

Thank you Anti, Rob will be on the skype call also. And Iris is thrilled with the shower idea or rather Tea party as my daughter and I call it.

Love the idea of gift cards and yes they will be much easier then shipping all that stuff.

Thanks again

I say go for it!!  Either gift cards, or have her register on Amazon or Target & things could be directly shipped to her -- perhaps she could even open some while on skype with all of you!!

Enjoy and Congratulations!!
