Our son left for boot camp on Monday Feb. 8th. We got the call from him that he made it ok. We were worried about him ( he has never been on a plane and never seen snow) but I know he will do well. We are torn up inside. We didn't think it would be so bad .......can't wait till we get a letter or another phone call. I know its supposed to be three weeks, just hope it gets better

You may receive an "I'm still alive!" call in week 3 or 4, but that call may come before or after that. Calls are totally up to the RDC. Don't expect a call, but have your phone available at all times (especially 8 am to 8 pm M-Th and Sat and 1 pm to 8 pm on Fridays and Sundays--calls at other times are possible, but generally indicate a problem or a need for information) and be pleasantly surprised when you get a call. Remember "No news is good news!" See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.
Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.
we are so looking forward to his call........his dad is really having a rough time with it.....go figure......thank you for the info!!
You are very welcome.
His dad can also join N4M for support and info. He may want to check out http://www.navydads.com/. There are also Dads on Moms.....com and PROUD NAVY DADS on N4M, but they are not very active. We welcome all loved ones on N4M and there will be lots of info and support for both of you in your DEP group, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), and your PIR group.
