Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son left for boot camp in November 9, and was set to graduate on 12/31. Well, the weekend before Thanksgiving he fell and injured his ankle. He has been in RCU for almost 6 weeks... Over the holidays he slipped again, so now they have put him in SEPS and he is coming home. He is getting a medical discharge, but said they told him his ankles were slightly turned and they should have caught it in MEPS. Has anyone else experienced this?

Remember when God closes a door somewhere he opens a window.  I'm sure it is really hard and I'm sorry. 

Probably not because that condition  existed prior to his enlisting. When soon gets home he can go to VA for assistance.

Most recruits separated from Recruit Training Command are not eligible for additional benefits once they leave the RTC other than the pay that they had accrued up to the point of separation.

I'd go to the VA and check too. Doesn't hurt. If it is a no then it is a no, but if you don't try then it is a no for sure. Things change all the time and each case is different.

Can someone explain the difference between the different SEPs codes? 

YES! Not with an ankle but with hearing test. My son went to MEPS in Jacksonville around April 16 and when he was there he did not pass his hearing test in one of his ears. Doc sent him to urgent care to have right ear cleaned and irrigated due to heavy wax build up. Came back and passed test. He was in DEPS until he went back to MEPS on November 22nd to swear in and ship out to Bootcamp in Great Lakes. One week later on is last day of Processing they medically discharged him for failing hearing test and doctor there said his ear drum was perferated! It is now going on two weeks and he still does not have an appointmentwith Legal. So yes, I believe they should have caught that at MEPS as well. Even though it had been awhile, nothing happened in between that time that would have caused a perferated ear drum.
I was medicals ncoic and I would never send a candidate to an urgent care just for that reason. Unfortunately he has no recourse except to reapply. Do contact his recruiter to see what his options are. Good luck.....
