Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

UPDATE! Administration and oversight of Navyformoms.com is in a period of transition from the agency that created it in 2008 to the agency that replaced it in 2015. They are making every effort to approve new members (a batch was approved today, in fact!) and absorb all the functions handled by the previous agency.

Concerneddad, If they have not been added as a member, then they can view much of the site because there is A LOT of the site that is public and one does not even need to be a Member of N4M to join it.
To see what is visible, sign out and then click around the site and see what I mean. Even some of the groups for Spook and special ops ratings are public--not a good thing in my opinion, but then I've had that discussion with some of the Admins of those groups and they disagree with me.
Lemonelephant is correct. If you see something that concerns you, bring it to the attention of the group and its admin.
Well I really don't take the time to monitor the site for inappropriate posts, but more importantly, I may not know what might break OPSEC. It may be a simple post about someone picking up their husband, or not being able to reach their daughter in wherever. We talk on here as friends, however, it's tough to say sometimes what might be considered giving out information.
With all that said, I know on the Dad's board, you must get approval to post on the Spec Ops board. Also, on Facebook, most of the boards are private and you must prove you have a loved one in the military. I'm all for helping out the newbies as I once was one with tons of questions, however first and foremost should be the security of our loved ones.
Again, this is just my opinion
GOOD NEWS!! I just received two responses.
"Hi Marcy. Thanks for contacting us. Your information on the change in ad agency is correct. Y&R has taken over recently and they are working very hard to absorb all of the functions previously managed by CE. This process has been challenging for all of us. I will research the current situation with navyformoms and see what can be done. I anticipate having an answer in a week or so. Thanks again for reaching out."
"Hi again Marcy. I was able to see there are a lot of people awaiting approval to join the group. I was also able to see that about 50 people awaiting approval were approved today (because of you reaching out - YEAH!) but the group is now literally full to capacity. The only way to add more is to remove some inactive members. I have a team researching to see how we may increase capacity or determine who some of the inactive members might be, but this could take weeks or again months. Thanks again for shining a light on this issue."
