Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hi! My recruit arrived today at Great Lakes - woo hoo! I’ve read about the typical first week of processing.. but I’m curious how much of that will happen prior to his 2 week quarantine? Thx!

Hi there! Welcome! If your recruit isn't fully vaccinated then he will go into the 2 week quarantine. If he is fully vaccinated it seems they are only in quarantine for a few days while their vaccine cards are verified. One thing about the Navy is that things are always changing so what happened one way yesterday could be completely different today. In the past there is no processing at all prior to quarantine and P days start the first day out of quarantine. That is when the real fun begins! Most of our mommas ask questions on the chat board so that is a great place to meet more moms and ask all your questions!

BeachMama - I posted a note in the comment wall area that mom2blondies is referring to, hopefully you see it there. I also posted a note on your profile page as well.

Hi,

Here is a link you can read over.

This is from one of our other moms that wrote this for all of us. Let us know if you have any quesitons.

Party

I am so nervous for my son. He has been in quarantine since July 7, 2021 and will be out of it July 21, 2021, hopefully. Will he begin the process for p-days after quarantine, like the hair cut, shots, etc? Also, it sounded like during the scripted phone call on his night of arrival, he will contact me through letter with his address and graduation date 3 to 4 weeks after quarantine. That is a long time. I’m nervous mostly because I don’t know what to expect during these nefarious times we are living in now. I kind of wish he never joined. Oh well, it’s his journey to take through life. I hope by him being in there will serve a good purpose because I’m just not so certain. I don’t mean to sound negative in any way or bring anyone down. It’s just so much to take all of this in.

TV - It is a lot for us moms to take in as our children move forward in life and especially those that join the military. I believe you should be receiving the Form Letter 3 - 4 weeks after he left for MEPS, not after quarantine, at least that is what we have shared though most of this BC time.

I am not the expert on the P-days, I leave that to some of the other moms but be sure to click on the link above that Partyofseven shared. Also, be sure to come join us on the main BC group page, if you scroll down past the discussions there is a comment wall area and that is where we do our daily chatting and posting of questions and announcements.
