Molly's Adopt a Sailor project

As a group, we would like to adopt a group of sailors and send letters and/or packages. I think we N4M could make a big difference in some sailors lives if all of us would just write one letter (you can do more if you want)

Support our Sailors

What is the most critical or best thing I can send?
Your SUPPORT! This is NOT an attempt to resupply the military, or fix every logistical problem. What counts here is the morale of the Sailor. Send a letter or a new Army tank, they both help, but a Sailor that knows he/she has the support of the folks at home will use that tank far better than without the support.
Count on that.

We will continue to do our best to list the items requested by the Sailors.

Again, this is not an effort to get you to spend a bunch of money, it is about you sending support to those who give us the freedom to express our thanks for our freedom.

Will I get a thank you from the Sailor that gets my package?
We hope you do, but we do not guarantee it.

The Sailors are under no obligation to reply. They can't be. We can't burden Sailors are busy doing there jobs. Sure can't have their leadership tell them to reply either. If you get a reply, it is voluntary by that Sailor.

However, if you want to really increase your chances of getting a reply, simply pre-address an envelope to yourself, a few pieces of paper, and maybe a pen and put them in your package. No need for a stamp on the envelope. In your letter to the Sailor which you also put in the box, ask him/her to drop you a quick note or more and ask if there is anything in particular you can send.

Many of the troops are asking that you include your email address in your letters and boxes if you would like a reply or thank you. This is of course far easier for the troops that have Internet access. This is completely voluntary on your part and does not guarantee a reply. But it helps.

Hello Moms! My Crommelin sailor is home and doing all those important things, like sleeping late, eating double portions, and watching Disney movies with little sis.....doesn't get much better than this. We've been chatting about the ship, and the pounding it took during the typhoons....I'm soooo glad to be learning these details NOW, and not when they were occuring.....Some pretty serious repair work was done at an unplanned port stop after the storms. These are the kind of details that are better left for talks after it's over, that begin with, "Oh, and by the way...." (as I pick myself back up from fainting from thinking about how close they came to some serious damage)....Thank the Good Lord for His watchcare over them and that ship!!!! He also noted that the Luau was very special, due to all the MAS love, and greatly appreciated by all who could attend. He loves his t-shirt, but didn't get a pillowcase...apparently, not everyone followed instructions about distribution...but he is very ok about it, as I'm sure they all are. Just knowing so many Moms care so much meant a lot to the entire crew.

Pat....I'm sure your sailor has arrived by now....hug him once for me.

A new one was added in the Special Hugs discussion above!! Please add Brendan to you Christmas card list. I thought he was one of the other two new ones - and I was checking things twice today (like Santa) and realized he was not added up there! Grab some kleenex before watching that video of him, though!

Oh and I mailed 20 pillowcases, 8 scarves and some snacks to Joe's group of 20 in Iraq today. Dori mailed 12 scarves yesterday. Then we wondered if they needed them, but I asked Joe to pass them on if they wouldn't use them.

I posted a slideshow of the USS New York delivery with Ally on the HAE page. Look for the NY thread.
Molly, I have found a recipe for my "own" cookies-chocolate pillows.

LLove: Thanks. That sad part is that the definitely smaller Medium sized box is now marked with 'medium' on it, and the others aren't. Will check though.
