Initially found N4M before son enlisted, probably about this time last year.  Really didnt want to commit to a relationship with everyone then, so just stalked for awhile.  As he was more and more serious, I found Nuke Moms.  Everything I read here really helped to ensure that son knew as much as possible when he went to MEPS. I was an addict as soon as I found this Nuke Moms group.  Not a bunch of whining, rather very interesting discussions.  Actually have to say that I have already learned some new things about life and people since joining.

We are also packing up our bags for the Holiday project.  Leaving the cost vs box ratio to hubby.  He went today to check out the boxes at Post Office.  When he asked about sending all in 1-2 boxes, the lady told him not to put in a 40lb box, because these might have to be parachuted in!  ( I don't think she realized this is going to ship) LOL!

So I don't know what brought the conversation on...

But I do believe I joined in April 2010. It was about a month after Aaron had graduated boot camp. I do wish I would have joined much earlier though! Definitely would have helped ease some worry. You ladies are the best! :)

I start the first leg of my cross country trip to WA early Friday morning with a flight home to Ohio. My mom and Aaron will be waiting for me at the airport. :)

I probably won't be around much. If anyone needs me, contact me on FB!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, moms! :)

Good job alacricket!  Nothing wrong with bragging a little!  (or a lot when called for!)  I have bragged as I'm sure many on here have...and what's not to brag about?  We have very handsome wonderful sailors!  (or maybe beautiful sailors!)

So, just packed my goody bags for the project for the Stennis group--going to repack them in priority mail boxes.  The box I used is bigger than the large boxes, but maybe about twice the size at most...I got all my baggies in there...did a calculation cost--was going to be like 75 bucks to ship it...so, going to pick up 2-3 priority mail boxes tomorrow.  Pretty sure 2 will work, but may be 3, but they are only 12.95 a piece to mail...so going the cheap route!  I know the sailors will all be tickled to receive goody bags...ALL 6700 or so (give or take a few...not sure exact count but around there)....wouldn't it be cool to watch them distribute these???

Mommajo it is truly the little things that they used to do that give you those moments of being sad and proud at the same time.

You have every right to brag alacricket. We all get it:)

I'm so proud right now. My son Josh graduated Oct 21 2011. He is officially an electrician in the Nuclear Field. He is here in Alabama. He will leave Nov 21 to Hawaii. We're going to have Christmas for him this Friday before he leaves. He will not be here Thanksgiving or Christmas. Just wanted to brag I'm so proud of him.

I joined N4M in May 2010 when mine left for boot camp.  I just wish I had found it before he left.

Wow, I joined around August of 2010...my son left in Oct...so may have been more like Sept....hard to believe one year down!!!!

I was watching the video and desparately trying to remember how to turn the volume up on my son's computer.  I can see him rolling his eyes and asking what I'll do when he's gone.  It's been a year and a half and I miss him so much; reminded in so many little ways.  But, I have an answer, "I'll go upstairs and use the laptop!"

Good night to all  ;)

"Nuke Moms" gives me a place to worry out loud, without making my husband nuts. Thanks, moms & gf's & Mark & William ...the umbilical cord got cut when my son went to boot camp Aug. 24, 2010 but thanks to Nuke Moms (and N4Ms in general), I still "feel" some of what he's going thru.
