OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I thank both of you for the welcome. I am not only new to this site but new to the social networking thing as well, so if I make mistakes I apologize. I may be a little older than the usual Navy parent, mid 50's. My son has been fascinated by ships since he was little, even though (or maybe because) he was raised in the desert. So after 6 years of college and a year of wondering what to do with his engineering degrees, he decided to bite the bullet and go OCS. He started on Dec 6th and we have been following the OCS groups to try to imagine what he is going through. There are some fun videos on YouTube and then I discovered this site, so I will be checking it frequently. I live in a small desert town, so no groups are physically close but I will check out the California postings. Thank you, Karen
