I am terrified about my child enlisting ... anyone have tips?

I come from a family of hippies, tree huggers, make love not war.  And I have been taught to question authority, stay away from any type of government and military lifestyle because the truth gets blurred. I don’t actually agree with most of my families views but am not necessarily against it either. Obviously, paranoid thoughts about governmental agencies being bad are silly. And I respect the ones who fight to keep us safe so that others can sit in ignorance and privelage debating conspiracy…See More

A little about me:
Scared to let the military have my child. Interested in the experience of others. I grew up with hippies and don’t want that bias to stop my child from fulfilling his purpose, but scared to think that this is the purpose because learning how to kill in any situation, even to protect seems like it would change the soul.

Scared2letuhavehim -  I am just letting you know that I have accepted your request to join the Christian Navy Moms group. Please come join us and introduce yourself. We don't post a lot, but when we do, it is often for a prayer request, so I encourage you to follow our comments via email. The group should be showing up on your profile page here to the left. I apologize that I did not post a note here when I accepted you into the group the other day, to let you know. Since I am now an admin of that group and it requires approvals before members can join, I am still learning the ropes some. :-)

Hello Scared  - I am soo sorry that it took me until almost midnight my time to get you accepted into the Christian Navy Mom group!! It has been a long day for me - my Tuesdays usually are and this more so and I have been away from the internet as well.

The Christian Navy Mom group is slightly different than the Prayer Wall. The group page itself is not public so you can't just view it if someone is browsing and it is a closed group, members have to be accepted so only those N4M members who are group members can see what is posted.

That said, since you have your latest activity showing on your My Page you might want to check and see if you post something on the Christian Navy Mom group page if that shows above here. If so, then you may want to make some changes to your settings if your profile page is open to the public or other members.

Welcome to our group.

Welcome to NAVYforMoms.com!

Head to “Settings” on the main page right away to add a profile image (no last names visible, please) and complete your Profile. Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.

Then jump right in!  Browse around the site and check out the groups and the information in their Discussion Forums.

Join this group for boot camp moms, where you'll also find a group for your Pass in Review (graduation) date; and this one for PIR Reference Information.

Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.  This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.  Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!
