Hi Marian, Thanks for responding to me.  We live in St. Louis but I am originally from the Boston area.  My folks are elderly but my sister will be able to take them to visit my son when he gets to Groton.  I thought school was longer then the four and half months. I thought that is why he had to sign for five years because the first is mostly for school.  I guess we will find out as we go along.  It is my understanding that they bring nothing to boot camp, is that correct.

That would be hard to be flying and waiting on call. I'm so glad we have that over with. God blessed us! I'll be praying for your recruit!

Marian,
I would love to get together sometime soon for lunch. I teach school in Gering so I can do lunch about any day for a few more weeks. Did you know that our sons are roommates tonight in Denver? Brett had to go back to MEPS for another physical. I'll fill you in on Brett's long odyssey to get to this point when we meet for lunch. Let me know what day works for you. Sleep well and have sweet dreams of your sailor son.
