I know how difficult this is for us all as parents this is the first Thanksgiving that I will not have my son at our table. I do not mean to be on the down side but with this mission that he is on it does have it’s up and downs for both him and I. I wake up every day at 4am to wait for that phone call from my boy to hear about his day. And he sounds good and the best part out of our conversations is him telling me how much he loves and misses us. Thank goodness for technology because I would be… Continue

My son was on the DEP until June. About 2 months ago he signed the paperwork to leave early. He is 19, and just ready to start this chapter in his life. I can’t blame him, most of his friends left for college, and it’s hard to work a job knowing this isn’t what you want to do. Monday the call came.....he would be leaving in 7 days. The 21st of November is the day. He was so excited and nervous. Needless to say, I felt like someone had ripped my heart out and stomped all over it. I just thought… Continue

Would anyone know the answers to these random questions?
- Are recruits allowed to bring contacts, saline solution & cases to BC for pictures & PIR?
- Do you know how much will be deducted in BC for uniforms (Male/Female)? I'm assuming they won't get all their uniforms at BC.
- Will they have footwear for showers or do they bring them?
- Will the recruit put the addresses on The Box and Form Letter or does the mailing address for these 2 items come…

Does anyone know when this class of students will graduate boot camp? I'd love to attend, but need to make arrangements ASAP because I am also leaving to teach in China in February and need to make flight arrangements.

One year in Great Lakes, there we were, stuck in the barracks. One of the guys had family in the area, his mom told him he could bring a few of us home. He and I were dating, his buddy was dating my roomie, and three of his friends were stuck at Glakes for the holiday. We all had liberty for the entire weekend so it was decide that we'd all go to his place for dinner.
The problem? The only car we had to…

Since hubby has to report to his first Duty station soon we won't have enough time to save up money for a deposit to live in apartment so we decided to live in military housing. After I lease is up how do we stop the bah from going to the military housing and come back in hubby's check for when we move? Or does it stop automatically once we move out of the military housing?

I don't know if this is of help to anyone but this is my take on my daughter leaving for boot camp.
She had a rough year her Senior year of school. So when she told us after she turned 18 she enlisted in the Navy we were shocked and devastated. She and I are very close and I know she was thinking about it but did not realize how determined she was. I could not imagine not seeing her every day, in her room or hearing the jingle of her car keys when she came home from Tae Kwon Do. I… Continue

Son arrived BC Thursday 10/20; cell phone got sent back and received 10/23. Recruiter said on 10/23, graduation should be 12/15. Should we book our flight and hotel?

Yesterday was my birthday. I missed my boy so much it was the first time since he was born we spent a birthday apart. I did not feel to wake up but I did and I did try my best to hold it together I kept crying everytime I was alone which really did not help the mood of my dinner party. Everyone kept saying how lucky I was to have great sons and I must be so happy that he is out of the house. Don’t people understand that I did everything for my sons and do they not understand that my boys are… Continue

My son just left for basic a week ago yesterday, and I know I am just beginning this long journey, but I am missing him terribly and am a teary eyed mess! Is this normal? Or am I just a big marshmallow puff of emotions? Oh i hope it isn't the big "change"! Lol

Good morning everyone.
So excited to have received our first letter. She requested her makeup and acne pads. Is this really okay to send so soon? It is only her 3rd week?

My son was home and left today I am feeling like part of me is gone where do I go from here I came home to an empty room and my home feels empty without him. I can shake this emptiness with all the family around I know everyone says it’s ok. But I cannot help feeling sad.
