A MOM GETTING STRENGTH FROM HER SAILOR

Where has time gone, I remember when you were small, The line you drew on the wall, every time to measure how tall. The running in the house, the hide and seek, I knew where you were, even when you would peek. I held you close when you were so cold, I offered my hand for you to always hold. I picked you up ever time you fell, Took care of all sickness to make you well. I rescued you when you felt any type of pain, Just to place you on the right path… Continue

Son just started OCS in Rhode Island, anyone else?

My son just started OCS training 7/5. One hour after he arrived I missed a call from him :( (I heard they get one 5 minute call and I picked mine up too late) I got a text right after saying he was sending me his address yet it never came through. Anyone know if they get to text it to us that first day or if he means it's getting mailed? Still bumming I missed that last call. And I'm dying to get a letter off to him.

Proud but a bit frustrated

I'm sp proud of my son for taking the initiative and enlisting in the Navy. He's very independent, smart, and determined and I'm certain he'll be fine.

But, his independence is driving me a bit crazy! He has shared little information with my hsband and I about what has happened.....well, he's told us things after the events happened! He's been living on his own for awhile now and is very self sufficient. But, he's still only 20 years old and I wish he would talk to us more about these…

navy schooling

Hello I am new to this site so bear with me. My son is leaving for RTC on July 8th with an EC rating in the Navy Reserves. There seem to be different answers as to whether he needs to go to "C" school right away or not because he is in the Reserves. Any insight would be appreciated!

Enlisted Now; I'm Growing as Much as He Is!

It seems like more than the 2.5 weeks it's actually been since that wonderful phone call, "I'm a member of the United States Navy!"  That he had to retake the PRT one time seems, as I knew it would, like an inconsequential matter after we received word that he'd passed the Battle Stations. I still haven't seen him since early April, but just to be able to text by phone or have an occasional conversation still seems like such a treat.  Oh my, he has changed.!

Sisters whose young ones…

Through the Pipeline

I am a bag of mixed emotions as I write this blog.  I am beyond proud of my Sailor for his accomplishments and at the same time, I'm sad and very scared.

My Sailor has officially become an EM Nuke!  He made it through the Nuclear Pipeline.

He, my…

After PIR Travel

After PIR is there a restriction on how far the graduates can go?  My step-son wants to meet us in Chicago, which is about an hour away, after graduation.  Wasn't sure if they are allowed to go that far or if it's too much to do in one day?

Baby missing daddy?

Any one know what to do?

I have a 13 month old daughter and she is super attached to my husband who left for bootcamp 7 days ago. She has always been independent but for the past week she is inconsolable. She is so moody and it's like she dosent know what she wants. She climbs in to my lap just to get back down and sit on the floor and cry. She dosent want to take naps, and is always Eating. I know this might seem silly to some of you but I'm feeling so over whelmed and im not use to not… Continue

Not Sure What Son's Doing

I really wish I knew what program my son was going into after bootcamp.  I know it's Aircrew, but he said he has at least 2 years of school ahead of him before he even begins his job.  He told me what it was at MEPS, the recruiter had just told him, but I didn't write it down and now I can't remember...ugh!!!  I wanted to look up information online about it.  Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

New to the site and can't seem to find the answers?

Hey everyone, first time asking a question and I know it has been asked before but I tried reading through older post and there are way to many. I have really found a ton of great info. My question is my son left Meps and arrived in Great Lakes may6. I have a few questions. First being is there way I can get his ship and division number so I can locate his PIR? I am a single father and trying to schedule my summer vacation with my daughter so we can see his PIR. My other question is how do I… Continue

Getting Closer

Well it was a countdown that started almost a year ago and now we are down to weeks before my son leaves for basic.  The next couple of weeks are going to certainly fly because there is so much going on between now and his ship date of July 7th.  I have been keeping my mind busy by putting together his high school graduation party/going away party.  I had to have his party the week before he actually graduates because there was no time in between graduation date of June 28th and his leave…

MY FIRST BLOG!!! PIR 6/19

So I have never blogged before but thought I would start....trying to figure out ways to connect with my son who is at RTC. When I say connect I don't mean literally, I mean when he can't write. So I have taken on my own style "bootcamp". I run, bike, do pushups (YES!!! modified), sit up (every inch off the ground is a plus) anything physical everyday. This is when I connect with my son. I mentally send him positive thoughts, tons of love and as I have written I invoke whatever higher entity…

graduation questions

This may be silly but is the ceremony a semi-formal? Can I wear a knee length dress and my husband a golf shirt and slacks?

New to all this

My oldest son done all this stuff this week at meps and signed his papers.  He will be leaving out for bootcamp the end of October.  Trying to learn all this and get use to all of this.  I have a little over 6 months of him being home with us before he leaves out.  I am proud of him and glad he is doing something like this but at the same time being a mom I am worried about him.

From graduation to A-School in GL?

Okay, so my husband is going from RTC to A-School which is still at Great Lakes. Does he get ANY time off after graduation to come stay the night with me? Or come spend the day with me and our daughter? I am kinda missing him a heck ton. He is going to Great Lakes for MM (machinist mate).

Just an update from my last post: We are about a week in and it seems to be getting better but I miss him so much!! Does anyone have significant…
