So, the box arrived Monday.  We were excited and sad at same time.  I don't know about anyone else, but I just think its weird to have the items come in that box.  I cried when I smelled his shirt.  Gosh I miss that boy!  I have letters written already, but now we're just waiting for the address.

Yesterday should've been in P5 day.  I pray he did well on his running test.  Like they say "no news is good news" and I'm sticking with that.  Its 103 here in my place of TX and I'm glad my son isn't having to deal with these temperatures in GL.

pokey1042, That is wonderful news! We all know that feeling when the box arrives only Moms understand :) I kept the box on his chair at the dinner table and my family thought it was weird :) but i was happy as can be having it there! Hang in there Mom you will be fine, he will be working hard to accomplish everything he is going to be faced with and do well :)

Thank you Maristar2 you totally get me!  I left the box in the living room for me to see everyday.  LOL

I was livid when I found out my husband washed his clothes that were in the box.  I apologized after, but I was smelling his shirt.  eghhhhh I need to get control of myself.  Feeling better today!

I got my son's box today too! Still waiting for that letter. I wish I knew if he is still in his Pdays or if he as been assigned to a ship.

Well, I opened up the box he sent home and I think I got someone else's sweatshirt...there were no pants or shoes or the shirt I had last seen him in...is that normal?

VenturaMari - my son left 4.30 and when we recieved  his box it was minus his shoes, jeans and sweatshirt.  When we finally talked to him he said he didn't have time to stuff them in so he donated them.  Said they are yelling and lots of noise and they are nervous and tired so they just don't have the time.  All the other important stuff was there though.  I'm sure there is a story, just ask when he calls.  For the other mom's who got to smell their kids shirts you are lucky.  It was raining when he traveled so our box was rank and was reminiscent of his stinky, sweaty football playing teenage room.  Washer immediately.  Hang in there, first few weeks are extra tough and I cried a lot.  We are now 23 days away and while I still miss him like crazy i am not nearly as crazy as I was.  Big Navy Mom hugs.

PS- If you are in Facebook i suggest joining the Navy Recruit Command page, Navy Mom page and the page for his PIR.  Between this site and those loads of valuable info and support.

@Christina, I hope our boys are together.  My son's P5 should have been Tuesday as well.  Like they say "no news is good news"!!  I'm hoping we get that form letter soon.  I booked a hotel, but still haven't booked our flights.

Im so thankful for this site. I have been moping around the house for almost 2 weeks , checking the mail every day and nothing yet. I did receive his belongings but so far no letter. My house feels very empty and the struggle is very real.
