For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi my daughter left for Boot Camp yesterday, and I have not received a phone call. Is this the norm.? I have not been able to sleep all night. Any thoughts on this?

Comment by navymom21 on April 17, 2013 at 9:05am: Im pretty new on here..my daughter left the 3rd....My understanding Is that they do get a quick call when they get to boot camp........Was her plane delayed ? maybe check with her recruiter If you can.......I would feel the same way as you...Dont worry ......Im sure things are fine ......navymom21

Comment by mona/VERY PROUD on April 17, 2013 at 5:40pm: hi/really cant give u an up to date info/cuz its been over 11 yrs my son went to bootcamp/believe me to much going on/there time is different from ours/they need to settle in get everything organized/get their orders and bunks/there is alot to do it took my son a few days before i heard from him//beleive me get used to it/im still a navy mom/and everyday is a worry/but all you can do is give alot of luv and praises and support

Comment by lemonelephant on April 17, 2013 at 9:48pm: Mar, your recruit may make a make up call since she didn't call upon arrival unless she made the call to someone else. Phone Cards and Phone Calls will tell you more. Remember, "No news is good news!" even this early.

Shelly804, join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April, to connect with others with loved ones who left today and may have PIR together.

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

We received her box today, and talking to her recruiter found out the she might have been in watch when the phone calls were made. Feeling a little bit better today. I am not new to Boot Camps since my husband is a former Marine and my son is Air Force active duty ( he was in Boot Camp 2 years ago), but by GOD I had totally forgotten how powerless we feel when we can not talk to them, hopefully this will be over soon, so far I've written 4 letter to her already, can not wait to get her address. :-)

Comment by lemonelephant on April 19, 2013 at 5:35pm: Mar, your recruit was not on watch upon arrival--it's not possible. I suspect that the battery had died in her cell phone and she didn't have time to borrow a phone from another recruit to call you. Some forget to turn their cell phones off on the plane and they eat up the battery life while in the air searching for a signal. As I mentioned earlier, she may be able to make a make up call and those are usually on the Saturday after arrival. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and Phone Cards and Phone Calls to let you know what you missed in the "I'm here!" call. I'm glad you have received "the box" and are one step closer to PIR. You also have one Friday down, 8 (maybe 7) more to go. The form letter should arrive in about another week.

Comment by RayaProudNavyMom on April 19, 2013 at 7:24pm: My son left for boot camp on Tuesday 4/16/13 and I to did not receive "the I am here phone call" i was so looking forward to that call. So I was wondering was that normal as well. He took his cell phone and a phone card already activated. Hopefully he knew how to use it. I am worried, Grand-mom's are worried as well. I take my cell phone everywhere i go just in case he calls. I don't want to miss his call. I am hoping he gets a chance to call soon. I miss my son...he is my first.
