O I do not like this feeling at all, I knew that when My Son Enlisted that My Parental Rights and say so for him was being signed away, that when the time came that I could no longer call the shots with My Boy, and I am not good at not being in control of my life,,,, but what is that quote when you are making plans , god is busy making others or something like that ....
well yesterday my son got a call from his recruiter and his day to leave for BC has been bumped up to 9/26
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!! I was so angry at first this has to be wrong , how could they.... what about your family your plans Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!! then of course i became very sad as i had to cancel the trip we had planned with our son our last little trip before he left i was in tears as i canceled hotels and reservations and then It dawned on me the sooner he leaves means the sooner I will get to see him again and we are now 29 days away from when he leaves
so its go time I only have 29 days so I have to stay Focused, I need to make every day count with my Boy, I need to get things in order around the House and make sure he gets in as much time as he can with his family, so as much as i am devasted over this change I have to be strong and focused these days will go by fast no time to weap i will do plenty of that when he leaves I am sure
I am going to Focus on what I do have Control of and not what I dont
29 days left until my Boy is No Longer here
OH Sassymom my heart goes out to you! But like you said the sooner he goes the sooner PIR gets here! and we are all looking forward to that day. I know we can make it, many before us have, it's just that we've never done this before! How do we let go of them???? I like your theology, that we stay focused, this is the future they want and we want them to be happy. My son went to college, got a job, had his heart broke a few times, and this is what he chose to alter his future to a higher and more fullfilling realm, I pray that's how it works out for all our sailors! Stay in touch!
he should have told them NO that he had plans. they would understand. don't think have to go early unless your son agree to.
Thanks!!!! Yes I know he is going to be be Great Sailor and Serve well, he is so ready to go, and excited,
I though the very same thing but I think they said No Dice, he has too but he seems to be ok with it and that is what matters the most as long as he is ok and not disappointed then I will be strong for and with him
Hi Sassymom, My daughter Kayla left 8/20/2013 and i thought i was prepared for that day she was dep in since February 2013 so i decided that i was going to spend as much time with her as possible and we did. But when that day came close i totally lost it which is normal for any parents cuz for the last 18 years of her life everything was mom and dad.. Now i have to give her the wings to follow the path that god has given her to follow her dreams. But i will tell you that the first week is hard but it does get easier after you received their box and address so you can write to them.. I finally recieved my daughters box yesterday and i started to cry but at the same time i was happy cuz now i can send her all the letters i already wrote. Sassymom when the day comes and you son finally leaves please know that we are all here for you. I am so grateful that my daughter signed me up with Navyformoms.com. Julie
Sassymom - that scares me! My daughter, like your son, is ready to go tomorrow!! She is scheduled to go February 5th. She just joined and I am very sad about her whole decision even though I know it is probably the best one for her. I have only known for a few days and still there are days I can't think of anything else so Im in tears and others where I am fine. I will be a roller coaster of emotions for the next 6 months. You are right - try to stay focused and enjoy the time you have right now. There will be plenty of times for tears when they are in BC.
I would check with chief of that recruiting office !
Sassymom, I know how you feel with not being in control anymore. I feel the same way. When my son enlisted he was 17 both me and my husband had to sign for him we were calling all the shots. Once he turned 18 in April the tables turned....the recruiter would not talk to me unless my son gave permission (which of course he did) but I had no say in anything he decided on after that. The Navy calls the shots now....I had 8 months to prepare for him to go and we spent as much time together as we possibly could. Cherish the time you have now. Time to let him follow his dreams....it will all be worth it in the end
Thank you all for your Kind Words and Caring Hearts!!!! Im So Greatful for this website... the shock has wore off and I have been in Mommy Mode all week, Planning an Open House for My Son, Shortening Our Trip and making plans for the last few days he is home ...... I feel More in control of what I can Control and I feel better, I know there is alot in my Sons Life I no longer have Control Over, but I know my Son will always want Us Included in anything Major that takes place in his Life once he is on the Journey outside the Home :)
sometimes when you are hit with a swift kick of reality it just takes a minute to bounce back!!!!
Carmen2013 My Heart goes out to you... I cant Imagine the disappointment you must of felt and still feel I hope your Pride n Joy for your Son out ways that so you can find some Peace ... I hope you get to hear your Sons Voice again soon!!!!!
