OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Eric - I haven't been back on very long so have not contributed to this group very much but want to thank you for your kind words. So glad that this site has given you some peace. We're not meant to go through life alone and helping each other is a privilege.

BTW...thank you for your service to this Nation and it's people!

I know we've got a couple of weeks to go but I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you Navy Moms for making a Navy Dad feel welcome here. Before I found this group I was the epitome of lost, feeling disconnected, out of the loop, or whatever the proper word or phase is. I wish each and every one of your own soon to be Sailors the best of luck and a great Naval career.

Well, at least it wasnt a total loss JTMom I noticed the lack of circulation from the bungi turned my arm Navy Blue! Now that was motivating! lol. Its hard to believe its only 2 weeks away, theres not a day that goes by that I dont look at her last text messages from when she arrived at O'Hare, and the phone call she made once she got to boot camp are all still on my phone. I refuse to delete them. It was my other daughter that I always thought would join the military if one of them did. This ones the youngest, complete opposite of her sister, and was a total shocker for me at first.

I held my phone in my hand all afternoon and every time it rang I jumped like I was on a firing range. But I am so excited knowing where I will be in 2 weeks and also knowing that they will be finished except for the celebrating!!!! And Kudos to you Eric. My husband and I love the bungee corded cell phone yard mowing Proud Navy Dad! We would have loved to have seen that.
