We are doing these units. They are out of Wisconsin (of which I am a native) and were at Ft. Hood when the terrorist attack occured on early November. They lost several members of each unit. Dori suggested that we do something special on the pillowcases for this unit and we chose angels because medical people are "angels of mercy". Maryellen is our mom coordinator for these units. She is doing an outstanding job already getting us the necessary information.

467th - this unit will a combo of then bands of angels and the appliques on the pillowcases. There are 46 in this unit, 21 female and 25 males.

1908th - this unit will have also have a combo of both types of  angel pillowcases.  There are 46 in this unit, 12 female, 34 male.

Fallen heroes - we are going to give the family of each fallen soldier a pillowcase to remember their loved one. There are 5. Lyn has graciously said that she will embroider something special.  The Wounded will get the same type as the unit. FRG contacts. There are 2 and Maryellen will make those.

I am posting some other photos that were sent this month too.

Sue, I have a bunch of white fabric. I want wondering if you could get your kids to color some pictures with transfer crayons. If you don't have any, I'll send a pack of them to you. There are a couple of rules to using them, but they make great pillowcases.
Lyn, that would be a great idea. In fact, yesterday at one school, "we" are making a Mazanita CARE family quilt. The director wanted me to cut squares of muslim for families to sign/draw on and then sew them together.
I told to that I wouldn't do that, but instead would draw squares on 1 large piece of muslim. That would be way too much work and I have to do it at home. No pay of course.

Anyway, the kids and parents did a great job. I know they would love to do it. thank you.
That is great Maryellen! I don't think they realize how much enjoyment we get out of receiving their "Thank You" notes.
That card will make a great addition to your scrap book. You keep it Maryellen. I will just print out a copy of it.
that would be perfect! thank you
Sue, Just remember that they need to use the special crayons and that they can't write any words on the picture. When I iron the pictures onto the pillowcases the words would come out backwards.
ummm. we used fabric markers. this sounds like sometime different.
When printing on transfer material, you can have the option of flipping the print so the words won't come out backwards.
Here's a wonderful thank you note:

My name is XXXXX XXXXXX and I am a Major in the Army. I am stationed in Michigan. I have been in the Army for over 14 years, this is my second deployment. I have 2 boys, ages 11 and 7.

I am deployed over here in Afghanistan supporting 5/2 Stryker Brigade. I received one of your pillowcases and I just wanted to say thank you so much. Mine was made by Liz, an Army mom. It is wonderful and everynight I lay down I think of the people who support us back home.

My oldest son Tyler was born at Madigan in June 1998. The nurse with me was nurse Kathy, I remember her to this day. So, Madigan has a special place in my heart.

Anyways, thanks so much. I redeploy to the states for Easter so I cannot wait. Not much longer now. Have a wonderful day and thank you for making mine better.

family, faith, freedom - for these I will lay down my life

Letters like these make it all worth it!
Oops, Sue tells me this is from one in Major Doug's group. I'll post it there too. No matter where it is posted, it's a great note.
you bet it is!
Oh, Dori, that was super! I pray he gets a special blessing on this day and that God will continue to protect him and his fellow troops!
