Moms:  I have been in contact with 3 ladies from Ft Hood and they are going to be getting me the information on the Units that were involved in the November 5 attack.

I should have the first unit by Wednesday of next week, and will keep everyone posted. So far here is what I do have.

9 more Fallen these will be going to S.O.S at fort hood and she will send them on to the Families

11 wounded I will have a list next week and these will go to the FRSA (Family Readiness Support Administrator) and she will pass them out.

There are several more units from Ft Hood that are deployed and several that are leaving here really soon.

I am not sure all the numbers but as I get them I will let everyone know.

Lyn, when I get the names of the fallen can you make the pillowcases for them just like you did before?  There is no rush on them.

I will keep you all posted         Maryellen

Unit #1:

The first group at Ft Hood will be the 20th Engineer Battalion; I don't have all the numbers but should have them by Wednesday of next week. In this group there will be a need for care packages also. Sharron the FRSA told me she knows that there are several of them that get NO mail from home and need a little TLC. I asked her to get us a name and address and I will see what we can do to get some Navy Mom Love to them.

God opened this door for me yesterday and I went through it. We will be having a lot of contacts for Ft Hood so I prayed last night that God will give us what we need to get the job done. I am so proud that I am a part of this group.  I will keep you posted on numbers as soon as I get them.  ME

Sue - I owe you an email... am responding tonight. Just saw this pop up on my screen... don't forget to give me a name or two of those (from Mary Ellen's unit mentioned above) who aren't getting mail/care packages... I will make sure they get both a letter and care package from me and I'll be glad to send them a pillowcase each (maybe one of those from a couple of the school stash would be really good for their spirit!)

Mary Ellen - I hope you are well on the road to recovery :)
I will do that once we get the information. looking forward to hearing from you. and can you send me the pictures in an attachment?
Maryellen,
I've been including mints with all the pcs that I send (except the ones for the fallen). I usually send one or two for each pillow. They're the kind that you usually find in a hotel on your pillow at night. Should I not do this for the Ft Hood pcs that I send?

Glad to hear you are doing so well! You will, of course, remain in my thoughts and prayers for Monday.
ME - I just finished building some of my stash up so will be waiting for the go on this one. will pm you.
Maryellen,

I've got a large number of female pcs and I can work on the soaps and hand sanitizers. Maybe we need to start to set up groups. Like, a shaving cream group, a lotions group, etc. Then handle the pillowcases separately. Just throwing out ideas to see what you think. We might need to spead a group this large over a couple of months.
I know that I have some toothbruses that I could send. Like Lyn said we might want to break it down and have everyone send certain items. Also what type of shaving cream can we send? I think that someone in the past made a comment about you couldn't send certain types of containers.
Lyn, that is a great idea! Perhaps, a person could be assigned to an item and ask family/friends to fill a box.
That would be a way to control what is sent and make sure that we get enough.

I tell Maryellen to let her know that our focus is pillowcases though. I do not want anyone stressed over this. But if we could get some other groups involved in the personal care items that would make a big difference!

Maryellen has a few ideas on whom to approach and I have a few. So let's brainstorm on that before we commit.

I put out a plea to the Tucson sewers this morning after ME and I talked. I've not asked them to do much this year as they really worked hard last year. But now that the Ft Hood units are starting to come, then it's time for action again.

You cannnot mail aerosol cans. so shaving cream has to be a gel.

Once she gets the contact information, we will decide together on a mailing date. I want to do these units really bad, but I also don't want anyone, including me or ME, to be stressed about this.

This is the reason we have been building stashes, with a few little units along the way.

Ladies, you are the best. More brainstorming please! have to go to work soon.
ME, your daugther is awesome! When my son was here, I was packing a box for someone. I needed a couple of more things and raided my pantry. Still had room so asked my son if he had anything in his airplane food stash, so he came up with several packages. He said the same basic thing-wanted to help the troops. He knows first hand how important those packages are.

I am going to talk to my Curves about this. WRote to my dads' church in Milwaukee. There is a woman there who did a fundraiser for HAE last fall, and she wants to do it again.

Tamara, maybe this is something for your VFW to do.
My husband and several of his co-workers have been saving hotel shampoos and creme rinses for me. I've got a fairly large stash of those as well as hotel soaps. I also have nearly 70 pillowcases in my stash at the moment.
sounds good Lyn. I dont know what my stash is, as I have been doing some units. Will need to do another count. Have heard from some of my Tucson sewers, so that is good.

did you mail the fallen yesterday? And would that have been all of them or there still some more?
Sue and Maryellen, I just got some amazing news. The local Sheraton Hotel is donating 500 bars of soap and 400 shampoos and creme rinse. So we have that covered.

All the fallen are done and mailed as of Monday.
I will see what I can do. I am meeting with a small group tomorrow and will bring this up. It looks like the soap and shampoo are covered???
