For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

the Navy Lodge is cheap and close to base. Just google Navy Lodge and you can find it. You don't have to have a Sailor check you into this one for PIR.

Set me straight on this....Most PIR is on Friday? We get up there on Thursday night should we stay in GL or Chicago, and then on Friday - Saturday - Sunday nights he has to be back at base by 8/9pm?? So if he is planning to hang out with us through that weekend should we stay at which location? And reading the guidelines for having an automobile on base is that for visiting guest or is that for the sailor?

our daughter's PIR is this Friday 7/9...we are staying at the Ramada Inn - Waukegan and that is where a lot of the Meet & Greets are just for convenience...they shuttle you there so you don't have to deal with parking. It's $79 per night...the kids (most of them) get liberty through Sun night and yes, have to be back at their "ship" by 9PM each night. We are staying Fri - Mon. Best of luck!

Everyone, if you have not been to graduation before, REALLY try to get to the gate by I think 6:00a.m. you want to be the first ones in. If you get stuck in the balcony the view is terrible. You want to be on the floor where you can sit RIGHT in front of your sailors division.

If your recruit is part of a small graduation, don't worry too much about getting there early. My son's group has 9 divisions, and I got there at 8:30 (late flight, had a hard time waking up) and there was still tons of good seating. There were whole empty sections, the place was less than 1/2 full.
Also, some moms prefer the balcony level because you get a better angle for pictures, and you can see better. Many parents who sat in the lower level had a hard time seeing their new sailors because other sailors were in the way. I was lucky, mine is 6'5" and stood out head and shoulders - literally. But except for those in the first row, I couldn't see any of the other sailors.
