OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It's probably early, but I'm anxious to book our hotel for PIR. We are planning on arriving on Wednesday and staying thru Sunday. I haven't started much research but have been reading other posts. Have any of you made decisions regarding this yet?

Kajmam, SRs are put into divisions as they arrive, with each division being filled before moving on to the next.

Division 944 is the performance division for this TG, all performance divisions start with 9..

Hi all, I just got my letter today, whew.. no notes from him though :(  I just booked the Navy Lodge since I figured it would fill up. Read good reviews on here and it is only $65.00 a night....

i thought of you all night  so glad to hear

Ladies, In case you haven't seen it, or aren't a member of the "Boot Camp Mom's" group, check out this afternoon's(7/30) posts (3 of them) by aster PIR7/27/2012. She just returned home from PIR and shares some great information. I have asked her for her permission to repost it on this group or for her to join and share with us, but until I hear back from her, go to that group and check it out! Also, I posted a great you tube video on my page about Boot Camp. It was one that I hadn't seen before and I thought I'd seen them all! lol check out my "home" page. If we're not "friends" yet, just send me a request!

I recommend Residence Inn Waukegan!

PIR Shuttle

Free Hot Buffet Breakfast (served earlier on PIR day)

PET FRIENDLY! (bring them!)

Pool/fitness room

Close to Sarge's MeetandGreet (about 4-5 miles from RTC)

Studios and 2 bdrm 2 bth units, all with kitchens (you can cook for your sailors!)

Navy Graduation discount, AAA discount (we used that)

elizabeth:  We took the shuttle.  Wonderful.  Bypassed car line...we left on the 6:30 one (signed up for it when we checked in).  Picked the shuttle back up at the gate about an hour after PIR was over.  $3/pp each way, sailor usually rides back for free.

djmom: You can drive from Navy Lodge...about a mile from RTC.  You also get a NEX (Navy Exchange) pass for a smaller NEX to shop in w/out your sailor.  The other NEXes, the sailor has to be with you.

Thanks so much...shuttle it is!

We booked the Springhill Suites, since my dad, mother-in-law, our daughter and I are coming to PIR. We also rented a car although we are taking the shuttle to PIR. We are also staying until Monday. My husband's A-School is Pensacola. Mostly they fly out Saturday but in my sister's PIR half flew out to Pensacola on Sunday so I am not going to take the chance of him  staying until Sunday and me not being able to be with him because I have to fly back. ;)

Just booked Courtyard by Marriott. Kept looking at all the different choices & finally just decided on this one. Took me a while to make up my mind. I plan on renting a car, but might take the shuttle to PIR also. Arriving on Wed & leaving Sunday. Now I just have to book airline & car rental.

did you book the one in Waukegan?

Yes. The Courtyard in Waukegan.

I am at same. I am using shuttle service for pir
