I'm trying to book flight to Great Lake, for my sons PIR Oct. 18th . We are coming from Sacramento, CA. Does anyone have any suggestions getting the best airline price. we will be needing a car too. We are staying at the Navy Lodge it seem to be the best price around and I booked the one with a kitchen unit, just in case my son wants me to make him something.

Compare not only flights into both O'Hare and Midway, but check out flights into Milwaukee airport.

We flew into Milwaukee and found the rental cars a bit cheaper and the drive a bit more pleasant.

Also, if you are renting a car, bring your own GPS with you. The rental companies charge ridiculous amounts to rent one with the car. It definitely helped to have one though.

Oh, and Southwest is the only one I know of that will let you change flights without additional fees if necessary. Ya never know.

Hi Michelle,

My daughter's PIR is also Oct 18,  When I was looking for a flight, the best deal I could find for us was, Southwest, out of Ontario CA, nonstop, into Midway.  That's what was best for us.  Hoping to use AAA for our rent a car.  We have also booked at the Navy Lodge.  I will be printing out a lot of maps.

the cheapest way is flying out of san Francisco I know that's kinda far but they start at 334.00 round trip and depending how many days you are staying ...

That is a great price from San Fran.
