New sailors may have time between when they arrive at A school and when they begin classes (sometimes more than 2 months, especially at Pensacola NAS) but during that time they are kept working a daily schedule. They do office work, clean the base, mop floors, etc.
They get evenings and weekends off, but they are not allowed to leave base at least for 2 weeks (at Corry Station), and often for 6 weeks or more (at Pensacola NAS).
If she will be grad-and-go from boot camp, visiting at Pensacola is not a bad idea, tough you may want to wait a week or two until she settles in. You can still spend time together, you just need to do it on base. There are actually a lot of things to do on base. At the NAS they have a beach, sailboat rentals, and beach cabin rentals (which your daughter would have to arrange for a later visit). At Corry Station there are on-base museums, a recreation center with a pool and great shopping at the NEX.
