Hello! My husband graduates February 18, 2011.  My flight will be coming into O'hare that day at 7:11 AM and I know that it's cutting it close but will I be able to make it on time? Will I be able to ge through as long as I arrive before 9 AM? How long is the drive from O'hare airport to Great Lakes?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

It takes at least 45 min to get from the airport to the base (that is on a good day with little traffic).  Per RTC's bootcamp page it says it can take "Please be aware that it can take 30+ minutes to park, get through base security, and walk to the drill hall by 8:45 a.m. "  It also says guests must be seated by 8:45am.

Thank you.
sorry to give you bad news...

We flew into Midway Airport  today 02/04/2011 arrived about 1030am by then time we picked up luggage got to rental car and arrived at GL it was 1pm

You missed the PIR?
Yes we missed Pir but we got a sailor in return     We tried for three days to get here but weather played a hand in our trip

As long as you got your Sailor...I know missing PIR was a disapointmetn but it could not be helped. Do you have your Sailor the whole weekend?

I agree!!! Nothing beats being with him :) I'm happy for you!
but I have to do this again in about nine or ten weeks   I have second son gets up here on monday night  Approx  4/8/2011  hopefully the weather will be much improve
Was your son disappointed about you missing PIR? I spoke with my husband today and he seemed kind of sad that I booked such a close flight...I know that seeing him will be the most important thing, but I just don't want him to be disappointed in me.
kinda but he understood the weather issuse we had faced this week but he was glad to see us when we did get here  he has enjoyed the last tw days

Does anyone know if my 16 year old needs to have a photo ID to go to PIR.  He does not have it yet.  Will they let him attend with a birth certificate and S/S card?
