Attached is a table (in Excel format) that shows the different locations for "A" School and the Ratings at them.  It also gives different groups by name that are associated with them.  Please let me know if I need to add a group for a rating and/or location or if I have not indicated the correct information about training.

(Click HERE to go to the Attachment.)

(Table updated 11/29/2019.)

I know there is another way to post it so that it shows, but I haven't figured it out.  Click on the Attachment and then you can click on the links you are interested in.

Although I try to keep the table current, I suggest that you double-check within the group for your Sailor's "A" School or rating to be sure that the info is still accurate.  If you find an error, please let me know so that I can correct it. Thank you.

Another site you may want to look at to get information on the different ratings is Navy COOL (Credentialing Opportunities On-Line), an official Navy site. The site has updated Rating Information Cards for each of the ratings.  Go to https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/index.htm and then click on Enlisted Search in the middle of the page.  You can then select a Rating in the top drop down box and click Go.  I have added the links for each rating in the table above.  I noticed that some ratings have Apprentice Technical Training (ATT) at GL after PIR and that is not included in the Navy COOL links, but I have included that info in the table when I know about it.

Thank you so much

You are very welcome. I'm glad to help.

"A" Schools close down over Christmas, so he will be offered the opportunity to take leave then for part of that time. He will find out more about that in "A" School. Also, it is important to note that he may be on hold for a bit before classing up, but that will not affect his being offered the opportunity for leave during the Christmas stand down. That will happen since that is the only time that Sailors can take leave before completing "A" School.

My SR is in boot camp and just got official time frames for ATO/ATI and AE and they are different from the spreadsheet. He said AE is 8 weeks, ATO is 9 weeks and ATI is 20 weeks

You can check the info and groups below.

The Rating Information card for Avionics Technician (AV) can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/av.pdf. Join Avionics Technicians (AV) Moms, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!, Spouses of Sailors going to A-school in P-cola,and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola and check out Airman Family and Friends. AV Sailors attend common basic electronics training, after which they are selected for either the Aviation Electrician’s Mate (AE) rating (Aviation Electronic - AE and https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ae.pdf) or the Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) rating (Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) and https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/at.pdf). Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

AT’s will be assigned to Aviation Electronics Technician-Organizational (AT-O) or Aviation Electronics Technician-Intermediate (AT-I). The assignment to AE or AT may be made prior to shipping to the RTC for some. For those with an AT contract prior to BC, the assignment to AT-O or AT-I is made soon after arriving at Pensacola. There is more info on AT-O and AT-I in http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=398.

According to the paperwork work he is going into Advanced Electronics and Advanced Computer Electronics.

Thank you for posting the chart!

You are very welcome.

My son will be in the Seaman apprenticeship program. Can any one tell me more about that and what the A school entails?
This is great! Thank you
