Got my call too, it was so so good to hear his voice.  He told me the same said DIV was really pulling together and that they won first flag.  Said they had lost a couple for medical reasons but that they were doing great.  He also had 1/2 hour, I talked to him for about 10-15 minutes and then let him call his sister and fiance.  He ended up talking to several when he called them.  I am so proud of them all.  Can not wait till PIR and the next call.
Where is everyone staying?

Anybody have any suggestions for places to stay?

Don't know the area and would like to stay someplace safe. Heard too many horror stories about areas around Chicago.

Made our reservations today to stay at Navy Lodge, $65 night, 2 Q beds, 1.5 mi from the front gate.
I am not sure about everyone but we are staying at American Inns and Suites.  Two rooms with 2 queens each room was about $350 for 2 nights.  Rooms look good online I checked them out through priceline.  Some of the reviews were not the best but I did not see anything that was horrible.  It is about 5 miles from base too so it shouldn't be too bad

I am so glad we all got calls from our SR's they are doing so good and I am proud of everyone of them.  My SR's said all the DIV is pretty cool and they all seem to get along really well.  He did say he had made a few close friends but he wouldn't give specifics. Hummmm navymom I wonder if one of those close friends is your SR lol. Guess we will see at PIR.

LOL I know I hope so!!!! I cant wait 31 more days!!!!!

My son called on Friday afternoon.  His first couple of letters were very positive, but his phone call was something I wasn't ready for.  I guess he was fired from squad leader and he was pretty bummed.  He sounded very down and so I hope he will be able to keep a positive attitude.
I'm sorry to hear that Sondra....did he say why he was fired? I hope he will be able to get his positive attitude back! Good luck to him.

He did not say what got him fired.  I'm not sure he knows, I don't think they actually tell you why.  He said some officer came in and saw him and said find me a different squad leader.

Sometimes that happens I hope it does not cause problems with the others or your son, tell him to keep his head held high the RDC's do things for reasons we may not understand or know and that is their job.  Not our place to question.  Sorry to hear he was fired as squad leader.  He still has a reason to be proud and stand tall.
Sondra, please tell you son to hold his head high. Sometimes the RDC will do things like this just to see how well the rest of the division will pull together in times of stress. Tell him to think of it as a challenge to how well he and his division  can operate as  team players. That's what they are looking for: everyone able to operate as a team, no matter what task is put before them. So be proud of your SR and tell him to keep on doing his best at whatever task he is currently given.  We are all cheering him on, as well as the rest of the division.
