For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Ship 5 - looking for answers
Hello, I'm new to this and hope I am in the right place. My son left for bootcamp on April 30. He was there for 2 weeks when I got a call from him saying they might send him home because of tendonitis of the knee. He was on crutches and getting physical therapy. Then I got a call from him last week telling me his knee was better but when they did his physic evaluation and they said he was depressed (becaues he missed home) and has anxiety and they were sending him to ship 5 to come home. He told them he did miss home but wanted to stay, this is what he wanted, to service his Country. He told me they said if he got counseling when he came home and got the clearance that he could reinlist in 6 months. He sees legal next week to see what they are discharging him at, R3 or R4. What are his chances of being able to reinlist? He is heartbroken and now he is depressed, feeling like he has let everybody down.

It takes 2-3 weeks to be processed out once a recruit is moved to Ship 5 (SEPS). Join Ship 5 Moms(Formerly Ship 17) and see FAQ about SEPS for more information. He tried and it didn't work out; there are many who never try to enlist. He is not letting anyone down, he just needs to come up with a new plan since this one is no the right one for him at this time. He will know about his chances for reenlistment once he gets his discharge/reenlistment code and the info on what he needs to do.

Not everyone can be away from everything they know. Realistily the odds of him getting back in is very slim. He really needs to focus on being healthy and getting a plan B in order. If he gets an RE4 he will never be able to reenlist in any branch of the military.
Start looking around for the community colleges and other things he can try when he gets home.

Thank you Angie. I probably have these codes wrong, all the acroynyms that he was throwing around. My head was spinning. From what he told me, the possible codes he rattled off, he's under the impression he can reinlist. He will be talking with legal, he thinks on Wednesday and will know more then. I did some reading on RE4 but not sure how true, it is the internet after all. No drug use, no misconduct, just not the right time. This is painful seeing your child go through something like this when he worked so hard to get into the Navy. I'm proud and supportive of him regardless of the out come. And thank the heavens for this site!
