here is the 2nd half of a note posted on page 2:

Ma'am,
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond, we are standing 12
hour watches so its safe to say I am plenty busy. My pillow is the one
with letters on it. Red circles, almost like push pins.
I am stationed onboard the USS Makin Island. This is my first
full deployment of my career. I arrived onboard right before we turned
around to go home last deployment. I arrived May 1st 2012 and got to
visit Hong Kong and Malaysia on the way back. But sadly, we were in
maintenance period for more then a year so it took until my last year on
the boat for us to deploy. Approaching 3 months out to sea. Its been
pretty good. Visited Hong Kong again. One of my favorite place I have
ever seen. Now we are in Fifth Fleet for the foreseeable future. Its
very hot, as you might have guessed.
I'm still waiting for hard copy orders. I leave the Makin Island
in the spring and will hopefully get my shore duty orders and start grad
school or law school.
Again I thank you for you kind words, have a wonderful day.

Dear Brenda, Patty, Karen, Vivian, Dottie, Andrea, and Mary Lee,
I am deployed with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in the Middle East right now.
We received your exceptionally kind gift of pillow cases only a couple days ago. It always gets me when people are staunch supporters of the individuals who trade their youth, freedom of choice, and sometimes lives for the sacred cloth of the US Military. Thank you for thinking of us and spending so many bone-wearying hours stitching away! Your kindness is very much appreciated. God bless you.

There pillowcases are above

Hi, my sis and I made 19 pillow cases, they're ready to ship.  I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly, but where do I mail them??  Also, what about the labels?  I see a shipping one and one that looks like it should be sent with each pillow case saying thank you and who it was made by??

Sorry, I'm a bit confused.

Thanks!

Stacy~

Hi Stacy, No worries and thanks so much!  I will respond to your friend request and we'll chat.

some notes are coming in from wave 1!  This will definitely take 4 waves to complete, so dust off those sewing machines and rev them up haha.  We could use your help.

Ladies,

I wanted to take a quick second to thank you for the pillowcases. I slept on it this morning after watch. It was much appreciated. Thank you so very much for you thoughts and kindness. Have a wonderful day.

V/R,  CTR2 Cxxxxx    USS Makin Island

Hello,

I would just like to thank you for the pillow cases you sent to out department! We all really appreciate it. Without the love from home, we wouldn’t be able to make it through deployment. The smallest things truly mean so much.

                                                                                                                 Thank you!

OMBC,

I, and many other sailors, received your pillow cases yesterday and immediately replaced my old one, thank you so much!

My name is Melissa . I am an Aviation Boatswain’s mate (ABH). I launch all aircraft that are missions that protect the world from the ISIS terrorist group. We are currently on month 3 on deployment with a few more to go. Thank you for your support and have a blessed day.

Ladies,

The Marines and Sailors aboard USS Makin Island received pillow cases
from you recently. I have one made by "OMBC." We're grateful for your
time, energy, love, and prayers. These simple things really do add a
touch of tenderness and thoughts of home as we settle in at the end of a
day. Thank you.

Warmly,
Sean    Major, United States Marine Corps   Logistics Officer, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit

OMBC stands for:  Orchard Mesa Baptist Church in Grand Junction, CO

Hi there! I just received one of the pillow cases you ladies sent us and
I just wanted to say thank you so much for it and for all the prayers
and support from you all. Not going to lie, it really made my whole
month getting the pillow case. Not only is it groovy patterns but it's
also clean and not used by 100 other men. Again, thank you for it and
God bless you all.

Good morning,

I just wanted to thank you for the pillowcases you sent us (USS Makin Island AATC); every one is adorable and they’ve all found grateful homes. Personally, they remind me of the quilts my mother used to stitch together and I really do take comfort in having a little piece of home close to me. Having attempted and failed miserably at learning to sew when I was younger, I know the patience and skill you’ve put into every project, so thank you for your time and dedication!

 Sincerely,  ET3 Megan

WOW!!! You ladies are very talented!!  I had made a pillow case with a 2" band and I do have to say, I love the look of the 4" band and I think the little extra band on some looks pretty cool too!!  By the sounds of it, they are being loved by all!!  I'll have my batch done this weekend and in the mail on Monday!!!

My son Andrew is on the Makin Island.  He called me to say he had received a "cartoon" pillowcase from one of the volunteers.  He went on to saying he rests his head each night on this pillowcase and was very happy to have received it.

Thank you to Sue, Maryellen and all of the volunteers that work so hard to bring a smile to so many.
