Okay, for future get-together, maybe a N4M dinner the night before PIR, let us know where you are staying.

My husband Mike and I are staying at the Navy Lodge, as are my parents and *maybe* my grandparents.

I too will be staying at the Navy Lodge.. Just me ..
Hey Arwen....we'll be at the Navy Lodge. My husband, my youngest son and I.
We are going to stay at the Ramada Inn as it has breakfast and an indoor pool. I decided on the extra money and slight distance in case she wanted to relax in the pool. We also anticipate spending a lot of time in our room/hotel. We don't much care about sight seeing but want to spend every minute we can with her as she will be in A school for almost two years!
My husband & I are staying at the Navy Lodge as well, just made my reservations a little bit ago! We are going to wait a bit on flights a well just in case he is Grad & Go. He is in Div 098 as well and headed off to Pensecola for A school. He is a CTR. Can't wait to get the first letter or phone call!
My daughter is in 098 also and going to pensacola too she is a CTI.I haven't heard from her yet other than form letter if you hear anything about grad&go let me know bwcause they will probably be leaving together. How did you book the Navy Lodge? We probably will drive from south carolina because don't know how long she will be there after grad.If you hear anything about how they are doing let me know and I will as well her name is Nichele
Sandra - Ari is also a CTI, they told her she is going to DLI in Monterey, CA. I didn't realize there was more than one location for CTI A school...at least they are both in warm places. I am sure the girls will appreciate that after spending their winter in GL!
Monterey isn't particularly warm. It's right on the Pacific Ocean, which keeps it from warming up a whole lot. It gets sea fog in summer and lots of cold rain in winter. She won't wear her winter wool coat often, but she will wear a raincoat or Ike coat a lot! Spring and fall are usually nice, though. And all you have to do is drive inland a few miles and suddenly it's 90 freaking degrees.

Make sure she goes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It's one of the few places I really, really want to see before I die. Their main "fish tank" is one of the largest (if not THE largest) in the world. Also, just a few miles north is Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, one of the best boardwalks. Monterey and Santa Cruz are located on the same bay, with Santa Cruz on the north end of the bay, and Monterey on the south end.
Arwen - I grew up in San Jose and my mom was a volunteer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium for years. When she passed, they dedicated the otter tank to her as it was her favorite attraction. The main tank there was originally the largest contained tank in the world, however now the aquarium in Georgia has that claim to fame. Their tank is so big they have a whale shark. Monterey does still have the distinction as having the largest ocean fed tank.

Janet - If Ari likes the coastal weather, she'll love it there! Also, if she is at all into history or journalism, there are some really interesting sites in the Monterey/Salinas area. John Steinbecks original home is in Salinas and Monterey boasts the famous Cannery Row. Ari is also going to LOVE the fresh fruits and vegetables that come out of that area!
Mary -- Thank you for the information! Ari LOVES history and loves reading. We are registered at paperbackswap.com and she goes crazy on it! She has incredibly elclectic tastes and gets excited everytime she logs on. She said that she is going to start making a list of things she wants to do and see when she gets there...will just have to start it for her and add those items. She is not interested in alcohol (thank goodness since she is only 18!) and wants to fill her "down" time with local culture and events while she travels.

When she was little her dream career was to be a sniper whose cover was a historian...after all...ALL snipers have cover stories...right? :o) She is going to strangle me for posting that but she will get over it!
I have reservations for both Ramada Inn and Navy Lodge, I hope that I hear from Ari this week to find out if the pool means anything to her. Before she left she said she thought she would want to soak and relax...who knows if that has changed. It would be nice to be at the Lodge with everyone else but have to wait to take her lead. Ramada Inn does a PIR reception but I don't know when or any other details. I would definitely be interested in talking about dinner Thursday night.
Hi Arwen-- we"ll be staying a La Quinta .. My husband, my In-laws & I....
WOOHOO!! Airfare...check! Car...check! Hotel...check! Cant wait to see my son!! We will stay at Quality Inn and take the shuttle to grad.
