They will be in Afghanistan until Feb 2011 and it will be a continuing need.

Conditions/Requests : Conditions- Very dusty and smells like you know what!
Electricity- Some how lucky to have good 'ol 110V.
We live in fabricated metal buildings packed in tight.
Have small fridge/freezers, very few microwaves around.

I rep for our unit- 3 Naval Construction Regiment from Marietta, Ga.
Most of us are all from predominately southeast, then east coast with a
couple sprinkled in from as far as California.

We are not picky by any means, actually we are in awe of those willing
to support us. What ever people are willing to send we apprecaite
goodies, snacks, coffee and anything else.

We also are adopting the wounded warriors that come through our base for medical care, they could
use way more! They come here with only what is on their backs during
battle. Sometimes loosing some of that.

Socks, towels, shower shoes, sheets would be a great way to make them comfortable again while they
heal before returning to the fight. Also magazines and videos or any
other form of entertainment. If you can help them first they have a
greater need, spread the word, send it to me as point of contact and I
will guarantee swift delivery to their bedsides...

I will provide the address,  off list, to anyone who needs it.

Jackie, we really like to post pictures of our pcs. But we can tell or post photos of other stuff too.

Peggy, you are a riot. no worries on the pcs. I won't tell.

I wrote back to Steve and asked how many in the unit.
Yeah, I didn't know about posting photos! Takes me a bit to catch on! Once I start to sew for this group and the Lincoln is taken care of I'll post. Right now all I can handle is making sure I have about 700+ or so pcs done for Air Dept. I MUST BE CRAZY!!!!!
ha, you said it. but I can relate.
Lyn, have you heard from Steve? I have another box just about ready but was hopeing he had let you know if there might be something special they could use.
My friends responded with tons of coupons for Bed,Bath and Beyond..Will use to buy blankets and maybe an electric tea pot that heats water faster than a microwave...You got any ideas.
Peggy, don't think she has heard from him again. Just do what you did before. and thank you!
No I haven't heard from Steve. They are in the middle of the fighting in Kandahar city and are most likely very busy. I don't expect to hear from him for quite a while. I think the items you mentioned sound great. Maybe if they have something that could go into the Christmas stockings, you could keep those until we send them off.
It looks like the Scarfs, stockings and other small Christmas gifts and cards can be mailed around the end of November or the 1st of Dec. That will get them there in time for the Holidays. I'll list the ship by dates tomorrow.
I'm going to take a count of scarfs and stockings on Nov. 15th. You don't need to finish everything by then, but we should have a good idea of what we are sending by then.
According to the Navy our ship by date is Dec 10th. But, since I will be away during that time. I am going to ship between Dec 1st and Dec 4th. Hope this helps.
I just packed up a huge box full of Christmas cards that they can all choose from to send home to their families. will try and get that out tomorrow so they have time to mail them for the Christmas season. I'll prob. add a few other items in the box too just for them.... don't know what yet, but I'll find something good at the store tomorrow!
That sounds like a great idea. They have until the end of November to get cards mailed home, so you have given them plenty of time.
that's wonderful Jackie. thanks for doing that.
HELP! Lost the address for Steve..... please someone email it to me. I have a box to get in the mail ASAP! Thanks
I've finished the Stockings I am making for Christmas. I've finally used up the fabric I have on hand. So, my count is 75. I'll start a count at the top of the page. Don't feel rushed, we have until the first of Dec.
