Hi Everyone! Excited to say that my son is a new sailor on the USS New York. He did not deploy with the ship in March because he was still in his A school. So, May 2nd he was flown to the ship. Today is the 17th and I still haven't heard from him. Is that normal?? I really appreciate all the support! Thanks!

Hi Everyone ~  My son is on the USS NY also.  He's a boatswain and SAR.  The month has flown by for us!  I hear from him every few days.  Sounds like they are all extremely busy.  I can't wait to hear about the port visits.  I'm on FB too if you'd like to friend me - send me a message.  :)

Hi to all! My son is also deployed on the USS New York! It's been a month and I wish I could say it has gone by fast, but I can't. He's a fireman and seems to be enjoying it. Sure hope the next 7 months go by a lot quicker.

My son is also on the USSNew York and we went down to see them off.  I will post some of my pics we took.  So proud of them. Check out the Facebook page as well for more pics of the deployment departure. USS New York LPD 21.

Have not heard if they made any landfall yet - but I did get an email from my son last night - He is working very hard about 15 hrs a day and is very tired.  It's good they keep them busy.

My son is on the USS NY.  I just sent his first care package today.  Very proud of all of them.   I was fortunate to see the inside of it, its a lot nicer than his prior ship.  Looking forward to keeping up to date with all of you!
