Thank you for the welcome SueS...my daughter will be on the USS Iwo Jima, just not sure when.Right now I'm feeling  alittle down as I don't know when I will see her again :(At least when she left for bc I knew we would see her in 8 weeks! I spoke to her today and she seemed a bit overwhelmed by everything, not knowing where anything was in Norfolk.Hopefully she will settle in fairly quickly.I know I will be "lurking "on this group a lot :)

Hello everyone.Thought I would join this group as my daughter has just arrived in Norfolk for her first duty station. She graduated bc on the 21 Oct and A-school on the 18th Nov.She went in as part of the A-Pact program and is going to train as a ABH,then as a ABF.Her ship is on exercise right now so we're not sure if she will join it yet.Are we allowed to say what ship? Anyway, any info /advice for me and her would be great.:)

My daughter signed up as a ABF, can someone give me more specifics of what she might be doing or is it mostly fueling?  Also, does anyone know what the chances are that she will be on a ship?  She has 4 weeks of BC left then onto A school in Pensacola.

On the boat she would probably be working Hangar or Flight Deck.  Initially, she would just be chaining and chocking the aircraft.  Of course there are about 16 or 17 quals she will be working on which should pose no problem.

My grandaughter just left for bootcamp and will be going to ABH A school in Pensacola. Her recruiter convinced her that she would have no problem as a female ABH. Any info on the challenges for a female ABH would be appreciated.
