Do they go out on a ship right after finishing A School?

Dana just hang in there.  Try to communicate as much as possible before they leave.  When they do keep it up with email.  He may not email as much as you do and when he does it will be short others will be waiting to use those computers too.  Plus he is going to be tired.  My son made 3 deployments (2 WesPacs and 1 to the Sandbox) on the Stennis and work shifts for him were 12 on and 12 off IHanger Deck).  When they do hit port he will call course you won't know when remember time differences.  We made up a code using birthdates and names of possible ports of call that he could use to sort of give us an idea where he would be.  I know you don't have much time to do this before the boat goes.  I am aware of when they leave because my son has an ABE1 friend who just left Meridian to go to the Stennis.  Good luck.

My son is ABF. He just graduated on June 17, still in A school in Pensacola.

Dana, I'm sorry I won't be much help to you since we are real new.

Hi Everyone,

I just found this group.  My son arrived in Bremerton, WA, stationed aboard the Stennis.  He is an ABH.  I am so nervous for him.  He seems to be okay.  Any support from other Moms who have already gone through this would be appreciated.

It is tough.  My son PNA three times then made it on the last exam.  It helped that he had an EP not sure making Jr Sailor of the Year for his command did or not.  He had one more shot if he missed this one.  His first PTS was denied, but it has been approved now with advancement to ABH2.  He was due to leave his shore duty billet in September now he has orders to the IKE for January.  I feel for the ones that are great sailors and want to stay.  There are so many other "skaters" in the Navy that don't need to stay.

My son was going to be a Navy Seal. Passed all physical and academic requirements and even waited 10 weeks to have the metal plate in his leg cleared. At the last minute he changed his mind and is now going in as ABF then Rescue Swimmer. Am I disappointed? Heck no! I am very proud of him that at 18 he took the time to carefully analyze everything and make one of the biggest decisions of his life. No matter what your child does in the Navy be proud it's a great service to our country and I thenk them all. Peace

Hi Ladies! I'm new to this group, and wanted to introduce myself!

My daughter is graduating bootcamp this Friday, and leaving for ABE A school in Pensacola early Saturday morning.

Her dad and I are so proud of her and can't wait to see where her new Navy career will take her! Looking forward to learning all I can about her rating, schooling, deployments, Navy life, etc!.

So proud to be here with you all!
