My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

I wish safe travels to all our sailors who are traveling today.  My prayers are with them and our moms who are saying their goodbyes.  ((hugs))

Cindy, sounds like your family will be eating a lot of ice cream.  LOL.

Elizabeth, ((hugs)) to you.,  Glad you had a really fun day before he leaves.  I bet that would have been a fun sight to see you two doing sign language.  lol

Rose, that is so cool that he was at Times Square.  It's so awesome that people really do appreciate our military now.

Nancy, I'm so glad that I had a good experienced at the airport.  I hope they did bump him up.  My A was bumped up on a 4 hour flight and he slept the entire one because he said the seats were huge and so comfy.  lol

Penny, I'm so glad that you were able to talk to CJ..  Sounds like things are going well for him.

Donna, ((hugs))  I think some of the sailors are just trying to figure out their independence right now.  I'm sure he will be calling you and writing with exciting news to share very soon.

Maggie, ((hugs)) to you.

Wendi, I hope you have a smooth transition back to work.  ((hugs))

nanny2, ((hugs))

jvmombyt, wow, that was awesome that you were able to see part of the base.

Nothing new to report here from me.  I was putting together my first care package for A, but haven't mailed it yet.  He keeps adding more to it every day.  lol  Today it is going in the mail, though,, filled with some civvie clothess, favorite snacks, some homemade goodies, dvd's, his hard drive with favorite music, some XBox games and some pictures that he forgot to take when he left.

For all the moms who have sailors going to A school today, I just wanted to let you know that even though your sailors aren't home, at this stage of their journey, they do seem to be able to communicate a lot.  I know once they get well into their schooling, it may not be as often, but I here from my son everyday, a few times a day now.  He Skypes me every night, so make sure if you don't have a webcam on your computer, that you both invest in one.  He even was able to see and talk to my daughter last night to wish her a happy birthday and that really meant a lot to her.

Hugs Elizabeth, Maggie, NGB and any other's I missed... that had to say goodbye's today! Your in my thoughts and prayers!

@Maggie, when you get a Address let me know...my  "E" is also in Pensacola. I am glad he is closer to home for you!

@Marylandmom do you have a address for "S," or what Barracks he's in. Wondering if he is with my "E" in Pensacola?

@NGB Groten...SO glad he got the respect they deserve at the baggage counter! I did contact Delta...they are issuing a refund to E and sending a "Credit Voucher for $25" to use in the future...too bad we will never Fly Delta again, to use that!!

Have a great day everyone!

Happy Monday everyone! Those of you posting about saying good bye to your sailors bring back how I felt last week. It has been a tough week. I am back to work today so maybe that will help. I am going to have to fix my make up now.

Have a great day!

Well my heart left this morning for Connecticut and I can only say I'm a mess I don't know if I'll ever learn how to say goodbye. Every time I say goodbye I crumble..I will miss my son more than he will ever know. To all my friends who have Sailor's leaving today I wish you strength for the next part of your journey.

My husband and I just got back home this morning from taking our son to his "A" school in Pensacola.  7 1/2 hr. ride one way.  He was excited but scared.  It was so hard leaving him again but he is much closer to home.

Is there anyone in the group that has a son that drove to Pensacola from Arizona?  I did speak to this young man in the parking lot last night when we had dropped our son off.

Well, we just got back from seeing IB off at the airport. He will meet up tomorrow with Elizabeth's T, which makes both of us (moms) feel better. He took the Macbook and before he left he set my Mac up so that we can video chat, so I am totally excited about that. And the luggage situation OMG, I had googled American Airlines luggage policy (since we got burned so badly in Chicago) and I was all ready to argue that his luggage was free, yada, yada, yada... BUT they were so incredibly awesome!! Sent IB over to a special slot because, "your luggage is free young man," didn't ask for orders or anything. And then there were 5 military kids waiting for the 12:30 AM flight, and their names were all on an upgrade list that was being flashed, so MAYBE IB was able to sit in first class, although he won't appreciate it, he is SICK!! and planning on sleeping.

You all will be reading this while I am sleeping, but I hope that you all have a great Monday.

Elizabeth, I will be touching base with you later in the day to see if you have heard anything.

Cindy-I got my sailor one of those cards for Christmas and didn't even realize they were reloadable. It was very nice and IB seemed to like it a lot.

Penny, Lori, and Rose-thanks for all the info about Groton from your boys who got there first. The information has been wonderful, It's nice to know more than IB LOL,

I am now going to sleep. :-)
