Maryland mom That was the way it was with me and Cj this week. I think he needed to spread his wings a little and get away from me. We had a long talk today which was great. Yes our kids do not need us as much as they use to. They are now Young Adults. I can't believe I am saying this. Give it a couple days and if not sick the girlfriend on him and make her tell him to call. That is what I ened up doing and now he realizes he needs to call me every now and then.

Rose that is so awesome! Isn't it funny what a family we have become...when I saw those sailors...I just knew they were "our" boys! :)

Elizabeth...((hugs)) I can so relate to how you are feeling...it is exactly the way I was a couple of days ago! I'm doing much better  today...he has been texting and on facebook...I know that there will be days when it hits me again...especially when I don't see him for a while...and my younger son has made comments similar to that when I get upset! :) I know it is hard for his brother too...he misses him fiercely when they are apart!

About the rooms...I don't know about every room, but N is in a room with two other roommates and I don't know if they have a microwave or fridge...I sent him an email asking and I haven't heard back yet.

I don't know when BESS starts...all he said was that he had Muster at 6:45 tomorrow.

Love and prayers to all of you saying goodbye today and tomorrow...I guess that I didn't realize that now that I am a Navy Mom that I would have to perfect the art of saying goodbye! One of those things you don't think about in the beginning...

Hi everyone...T leaves tomorrow before the crack of dawn, but that is good he will get to CT in the afternoon and have time to get settled within day light hours.  We spent the day laughing and being silly, which is what I think I will miss the most, just being silly with him....but he did set up Skype for me and we chatted him in the living room and me in the dining room good thing we did a test run neither one of us had a microphone (small technical issue) he told me we could both learn sign language and we wouldn't have to worry about microphones...that's my silly Sailor.  Could you just see him in his room doing sign language with me on Skype and the roommate saying oh is your mom deaf, no we just don't have microphones...that would be pretty funny.  My younger son (he's 13) said to me today you ok mom, I said sure am why, he said you seem sad...good grief i busted into tears  I told him i was sad to say goodbye to his brother he looked at me with the wisdom of a man and said Mom he's going to be ok he's going to school to get an education, I thought that was so cute, gotta love that kid he just knows the right things to say at the right moments to make me smile :o)  I keep telling myself everything is going to be fine...I just wish I didn't get so emotional there is no guessing how I feel....I would make a really bad poker player....hahah.

Cindy - thanks for the info on the NEX gift card that is an awesome idea i'm going to check it out.

Groton moms- do the rooms have a microwave and fridge?  and when does BESS start?  how many are in a room? (I read somewhere on the internet that it was 2 then I thought I heard 3)

Thanks Penny for the update AWESOME news that he was a Chatty Patti...I call them Chatty Kathy's :o)! Glad to hear he is getting all settled in! E is in a room with a microwave and fridge too only with one other guy that has not showed up yet...maybe tomorrow! Does CJ like Oatmeal Cookies?

Anyway girls, I wanted to share this great information! For those of you who want to send something to your Sailor's! I went on the NEX Web Site and purchased a NEX gift card...so he can use it to buy laundry detergent etc. or whatever he needs.. ITS AWESOME, you can design your own card and everything with your own photo's etc if you want, and include a custom made greeting card with it for only $4.25! Otherwise just a generic gift card with no card is free. They send them right to your Sailor for only the cost of a stamp .44 cents! I used a photo of our dogs that E loves and misses, printed right on the gift card...thought he could now carry them in his wallet all the time and have $$ to spend ta boot! The cards are re-loadable TOO!!!! I made a "Good Luck" inspirational greeting card that should arrive to him in time to start School! They have tons of cards on their site to start with, and then you add your own thoughts!!! Just thought I would Share that....Have fun!!

I just got off the phone with Cj!! Oh my goodness. Was he ever a chatty patti today. Not sure what the difference was. He is now moved to his new room and he said at 1900 they have the beginning of their indocking for A school. So he thinks he will have his address tonight for me.

So now for all the jusicy news. He and his room mates have a PO room. That means it comes equiped with a microwave and is larger than the other rooms. He is room with three guys. Two of which are from Div 23 - Last names are Taylor and Pucillo. (I hope I spelled it right). The other roommate they call Sea Lion as they can not pronounce his name.  Tomorrow they will do a pee test in the morning and CJ is sure some of the guys will get busted. He said the new drug is called Spice and it is a mixture of incense and something else. He said last year over 72 sailors were busted for this drug. Anyway he said he wants me to send cookies and hangers seeing his birthday is coming up. Anyway he said he is glad to get started the last week was boring and not interesting.

He told me he went with his own phone company and bought a new phone as he broke his phone. He told me he was not using his credit card. He said "mom you taught me well" Almost made me cried thinking I don't remember teaching him much.

Thanks for humoring me girls...  BTW those of you who have Sailors at GL - he said the whole base of schools will go through the processing this week. Not sure when classes actually start.
